I think we decided that public photos of the group were not a good idea, in case anyone is on the lamb.

(sorry, I've just always wanted to use one of those icons!)

The natural way is to have a party. For example special groups like Scandinavians, Baens Bar, and so on usually have parties.

Speaking for myself, I don't mind. (I leave those lambs alone!

) But it's up to the group, and there are waivers to process, not to mention all the signs, license plates, T-shirt logos and beer labels to blur-out...

Here are three shots I took of Steve. Remember that I'm only 6' 5" tall.

The first is Steve, the second is a close-up of his MobileRead designer shirt, and the third is Steve taking his own photo for the dust jacket of his next ebook.

Hmm... might want to check out one of those Scandinavian parties...

But seriously, that's a great idea. And maybe, when we have everyone in the same room, we can provide something that promotes e-books... like (and this came up at the meet-up) beaming free texts to anyone with a PDA or cellphone. Or (more likely) giving out a card or something with a web link to free e-books (some site like, I dunno, say, Mobileread).

What other kinds of cool MR party favors could we use? (Besides the thongs... those are a given!)
