You need a credit card with a US billing address in order to purchase ebooks without geo restrictions on Amazon.com. Otherwise you will be limited to books available to the Middle East.

Calibre works great for converting books from one format to another.

Booksonboard is another book store you might want to look at.

Thank you for responding. I've been using Calibre for a couple of years now and it's been my number one software to convert my eBooks. But what I'm asking here is, have you used Calibre's plug-in that deletes the DRM from a book? I don't want to purchase a DRM protected book and find out that it doesn't work.

It's not actually calibre's plugin, but a plugin for calibre. A subtle but important difference. The calibre developers have nothing to do with the plugin developers.

I have successfully used the plugins from Apprentice Alf's blog to remove DRM from B&N, Kobo, Sony, eReader and Kindle ebooks.

But detailed instructions and help with DRM removal are not permitted on this forum for legal reasons. Luckily there are other forums (and Apprentice Alf's comments section) where such help is available if you need it.

Yes, I know about the blog, I read through Apprentice Alf's post on removing DRM. Just wanted to make sure it works. Thank you!

I just checked out the site. Every book has a "download for Kindle" button which when clicked takes you to the Amazon Kindle Store. So, I can't buy any books from BooksOnBoard.

Select epub format to buy direct from the booksonboard site.

After you sign up for an account, geo restrictions will also apply if your billing address is outside of the USA. All book sites normally have the same restrictions (and sorry I don't mean to imply that booksonboard was any different).

Yes, you can.
If you don't have a credit/debit card card with a US billing address (Which are easy to get, especially the pre-paid debit cards) you can fill your US-address account with Gift card funds for your purchases.
Last I heard that trick works fine.

Edit:
It doesn't matter *where* you are or who issued the card.
If you do have a US billing address you're golden no matter where on the planet you may be sitting.

I've posted a similar thread in a Kindle forum and a lot of the responses I got were like yours, they said I can as long as the address used is a US address, doesn't matter if the credit card used is a non US they said. I then told myself I need more information so I did some 'googling' and found a thread like mine where a Brazilian guy have been downloading eBooks via the US Kindle store with success and then suddenly can't and another thread that contradicts this, found out that some people have been doing this for a long period of time and have never had a problem. Anyway, I'll be getting the Kindle Paperwhite tomorrow and will check on this myself.

You can buy your kindle books from US store outside of US if you have a US address and if you register your Kindle in the US. The credit card doesn't have anything to do with it. However, I don't know if you will be able to use 3G with the Kindle registered in US. You can always buy them from computer, choose option transfer to computer and then load them on you Kindle, though.
I have a non-US credit card and US address and it has worked fine for me so far.

You can use the 3G outside the US with a US-registered Kindle, but you might be charged download fees by Amazon if you use it to download any books to the Kindle.

If you really need a US credit card and billing address you can always go to www.usunlocked.com.

You won't need it for ebooks, but for other digital items. Costs you about 10% extra, so I only use it when I really need it.

What do you mean by "if I register my Kindle in the US"? I don't live in the US.

A quick question. Can I have 2 addresses linked to my Amazon account for buying eBooks? I want to have a US account (US address) for when purchasing from the US kindle store and a UAE account for the Middle East store. Or do I have to create a separate Amazon account for each?
