I have a Kindle Keyboard (K3g) that I just received back from being repaired by SquareTrade. I installed the 3.4 update and proceeded with the new versions of Jailbreak and the screensaver hack. The screensaver hack apparently did not work, as no linkss/screensaver file appeared in my Kindle when I reconnected it to my computer.

Also, at some point I tried uninstalling and re-installing the screensaver hack and jailbreak nothing seems to work... at one point I received an Error Message #3. I'm attaching a zip file of the logs. Any help would be appreciated! Should I start a different thread for this? Thanks in advance! |

@DRNKMNKY: Whatever you try, *DO NOT* do a factory reset! I have multiple ideas to get your kindle back on its feet if the dual usbNetwork thing doesn't pan out, but a factory reset might wreak everything

.@trophywife007: Nope, it's the right place . I'll take a look at the logs now, but, unless something went very wrong, you only get a 0003 error when you reboot with a custom .bin on your Kindle, which is bad. Always use the 'Update Your Kindle' link .

@trophywife007: Well, that was fast. There's no trace of OTA update in your logs, so I can't tell anything about the update failures (besides what I already said earlier, which might explain why there's nothing in the logs).

On the bright side, I can't see any trace of hacks or jailbreak either, so, it should pretty much be clean .EDIT: One other reason I can't see anything is because there's only something like 20 min of logs, which happens sometimes when the system rotated them at an annoying time (for us ) .

@ NiLuJe - I do use the "Update Your Kindle" link -- which I learned from you on the last thread where I was having trouble.

![]() So, I just begin again with: update_jailbreak_0.11.N_k3g-3.2.1_install.bin and update your kindle follow up with: update_ss_0.29.N_k3g_install.bin and update your kindle Then I should find a linkss/screensaver file to put in my new screensavers, then update your kindle. Yes? Thanks for your help, NiLuJe! Last edited by trophywife007; 09-19-2012 at 07:29 PM. |

FWIW, I don't care, I actually prefer to keep everything (relevant) in this single thread. It worked fine for 171 pages, and that doesn't bother me, so .

(Well, actually, you can tell that it went fine even before checking if a folder pops up, by what the update process tells you at the end: if you see the 'Update Successful' screen with the checkmark, you're good to go ).EDIT: And if you get an update failure at one point, dump the logs right after, that should ensure the important stuff doesn't get cleaned up by the system .

And here we go again.. USBNet v0.43.N!

			* Properly workaround the timing issues when USE_VOLUMD is true (we should now always end up with the correct IP). [Basically, we now loop for 15s max, checking if the usb0 network interface is up each second, to avoid calling ifconfig before volumd. Surprisingly, this had to require a tiny bit of C, couldn't find an easier way to get the IPv4 address without parsing the output of something...] Last edited by NiLuJe; 09-19-2012 at 11:41 PM. |

@NiLuJe: I actually just did it: Uninstalled jb, got a message that update was successful. Then installed new jb, but got error message 007. When I checked the files, my version jb 0.7 was still installed and working. What can I do?
