In my Kindle keyboard jailbroken (010N) with fonts & SS hacks installed, I successfully updated firmware to v.3.4. My (dumb) question is: If I want to update Font & Screensaver hacks to new version, do I first uninstall previous hack? I read the notes you wrote at 1.st post, but due to my poor english I dont understand correctly. Regards |

@kuser: Except for the jailbreak, you don't need to uninstall the old versions first. Just install the new one on top.

You *need* to uninstall the jailbreak to upgrade it. You *don't need* to uninstall any of the *other* hacks to upgrade them. |

!!! I installed your latest Jailbreak on my Kindle Keyboard 3.4 without first uninstalling the previous Jailbreak. It seems to have installed fine. Should I uninstall both and reinstall the latest version?

@montalex: If you were already using mine in the first place, and it wasn't a freakishly old version, you *should* be okay, but at the very least do a complete reboot, just in case.

If you were using Yifan's jailbreak, it might get a bit hairy. Try to uninstall one, reboot, uninstall the other, reboot, and then install the latest version. |

![]() It's mostly a bit of cleanup after the fixes of v5.3.N... * Removed the browser workaround, turns out it's unnecessary now that we're doing stuff properly .* Added the bci_new FT override (bci built without FT_CONFIG_OPTION_OLD_INTERNALS). It might be more performant, but it might also be less compatible, especially on older devices/fw. * Use the proper fontconfig config file in older K3 FW (<= 3.3). That means that, if asked, the browser will now correctly use an FT override, like the rest of the system, thus saving a few hundred KB of RAM .(And removing a somewhat nasty, most definitely hackish, piece of code that I'm surprised turned out to be so robust xD). I also had to compress the packages in RAR, instead of ZIP, to get them under MR's 20MB attachment limit. Last edited by NiLuJe; 09-16-2012 at 06:13 PM. |

One question, though. I use custom Georgia 2 fonts. If I update the font hack, will I have to reinstall my fonts? I have my Kindle looking just as I want it now, with 10 point margins, bookcovers for screensavers, etc. |

[QUOTE=NiLuJe;2226052]... Another small update? Yay?! Fonts v5.4.N!

![]() Hey, dear Mr. NiLuJe, I appreciate your efforts on kindle fonts hacks. However, I met a problem on KF8 format books. A same book that I transferred to mobi format and AZW3(KF8) format by calibre software, the mobi format can display the right font hack result (CJK.ttf that I replaced); but the KF8 format lost the hack result and display original font. Would you please tell me how to do to let KF8 format books display a right font hack result? Thank you very much! |

But I still feel confusion how to tweak the setting parameters. Do you mean the step by step like below: 1) Remove the nobrowser file in the linkfonts folder first? 2) How to enable KF8 feature? 3) Which contents that I should change in local.conf file? Best Regards!

			* Yep, delete nobrowser, then reboot. * If that still doesn't help (it should at least work for Latin scripts, though), delete the few zh/ko overrides near the end of local.conf (~L394-444), then reboot (or autoreboot). Last edited by NiLuJe; 09-17-2012 at 12:54 AM. |
