Okay, I now have the logs. Thanks for your help with that! It's a .txt file and hugely long, but I don't see any way to attach it here. How do I get it to you?

In your reply, be sure to have picked the "advanced" editor.

Scroll down to "manage attachements", next panel down from this edit box.

Since I don't see any in-context quotes (the "advanced" editor's default) I suspect your using the "quick reply" feature.

I'm attaching the log. It's a pdf (3,000 pages!) as the txt file was too large to be uploaded.

@trophywife007: The line wrapping makes it pretty much unreadable/unparseable, but I don't think there's any trace of an update process in there.

Kill the debug (;debugOff), re-run the uninstall, and then dump another set of logs right after that.

And please just zip/rar/compress the plaintext logfile without a format shift next time

So, it would appear to be failing because there's no jailbreak installed. This is confirmed by the fact that I don't see traces of my jb in the log

.

Now, there was a short window of time when uninstalling the jailbreak left the system in an inconsistent state until the next reboot, so, let's try this:

* Restart your Kindle ([HOME] > [MENU] > Settings > [MENU] > Restart)
* Install the latest jailbreak version
* Uninstall the SS Hack
* Uninstall the JailBreak

That should clear things up

EDIT: Forgot to mention: Please use the uninstaller from the latest release of each hack, they handle all previous versions fine, and may very well have fixed some stupid bugs (I'm thinking of the aforementioned jailbreak one, for example, which is probably the root cause of your troubles ^^)

I'm installing the jailbreak...and the kindle is giving me the message that the update was unsuccessful. I seem to recall that this is normal, yes? I'll be doing the uninstall (using the latest version) of the screensaver hack next.

Maybe I'm doing this wrong: I attach the Kindle to my computer and double click on it, I put the bin in the "root" folder, NOT in the screensaver file or the linkss file.

I put the Kindle icon in the trash to disconnect then "update your kindle." The update "failed" all three times on this last sequence of tries and the nasty dead authors still elusive.

I did initially install the hacks shortly after the K3g was released. There were software updates but the version of the hack I used enabled me to update the software on my kindle without having to uninstall the hacks. Just FYI in case it's relevant.

Okay, working on it. One question: in the link for the hacks you gave, I see the -3.2.1 jailbreak install for the k3g, but no uninstall for the K3g -3.2.1. Is it located someplace else?

@trophywife007: There's no FW specific file for the uninstall, it's the same for everyone.
