1. Which famous politician, at the prime of his political activities, covered the 1932 Olympics as a reporter? (clue - he probably didn't do it barefoot) 2. In what Olympic year were the Gold medals last made of real gold (they are now Silver with Gold plating)? 1912 - Bookpossum 3. What was the top prize at the first modern Olympics held in 1896 in Athens? Silver (and an olive branch) - Stitchawl 4. In the 1900 games, what did France give the winners instead of medals? (clue - something they would consider more valuable than medals) 5. In what year was the first Olympic drug suspension, and a bonus point for the banned substance? Year??? Alcohol - Stitchawl (who else) 6. How old were the youngest and oldest ever Olympians (one point for each)? Youngest??? Yes, they gave them paintings. In 1900 in France winners got paintings instead of gold medals. Gold, silver and bronze medals weren't given out until the third modern Olympics, in 1904. The French gave the winners paintings because they believed they were more valuable.
So the only questions left are the year in which drug testing first took place, and the Country for an extra point, and the age of the youngest olympian (we've had 9 and 11...) Last edited by orlok; 08-02-2012 at 03:39 PM. |

The final missing answer was the 1968 Mexico City games. Hans-Gunnar Liljenwall, a Swedish pentathlete, was suspended because he tested positive for a banned substance, namely Alcohol. He drank several beers before the pentathlon, which was against the rules, so he was suspended.
