Telefunken ereader not recognised.

HI All,

I have come in to see if someone can give me clearer instructions on making calibre see my device, a Telefunken Tel7j ereader with wifi. Android 2.2.

I have read the calibre manual info and tried to follow it.
My device is recognised as a storage device by windows vista home premium, and has a drive letter assigned to it.

I have attempted to follow the instructions given but cannot find the bit "user_device and then enable and see green button.

I was able to do this bit, if it helps anyone to help me.

Copy these values to the clipboard, paste them into an editor, then enter them into the USER_DEVICE by customizing the device plugin in Preferences->Plugins. Remember to also enter the folders where you want the books to be put. You must restart calibre for your changes to take effect.


I don't seem to have these options in my preference settings. ( Are they in the telefunken or calibre?) I have downloaded the calibre again 2 days ago to be sure I had the latest copy. I have been reading with it on the laptop.

I am not computer savvy but can fix up most stuff that goes wrong.

If this can't be resolved I can still drag and drop from downloads to the tel7j.
So I can still use the reader. I would just like it to be simple and part of this great program.

The ereader has a program called
Bookshelves version:0.2.6 E-book Database version:1.7 / Adobe Decode Version:rmsdk ver is 88.
It takes PDF/TXT/FB2/EPUB/PDB/RPDF/RTXT no larger than 5mb.

It reads epub best so thats what I put in.

I am not clued up enough yet to get that off and put calibre on it. BUT I would like to be able to do that.

Your device is not reporting its vendor and product names to windows
as can be seen looking at the debug output. Look at the lines

...VEN_TEL7J&PROD_&...

A properly working device would report something like:

...VEN_SONY&PROD_PRS-650&

Without this it is not possible for calibre to support your device.

You can use the Connect to folder function to connect to your device
instead. Click the Connect/Share button in calibre to access this
function.

Got the connect/share to work easily. Now have device box showing up the top and have dragged and dropped books to it and seen them in the device.



A really great program which I will recommend to all my friends - including them clicking on the red heart with purpose!!
