It's also permitted just to say the words, in hopes that this will work as well, but I don't like to take chances. I look for real wood to use... which isn't always so easy in this day and age of synthetics...

I wonder if Congress, or even the President, get phone calls several times a day by irate collection agents, named Smith or Jones, demanding that the national debt be paid by the first of the month? Perhaps they offer a planned pay-back solution to help make payments easier?

It looks like Lexie's done a runner. After I fed her tonight she went upstairs but after almost an hour she hadn't reappeared. I first thought she might be in the garden/courtyard because I had left the door to the store downstairs open when I went to get something. But after calling her she didn't appear so I searched the house. When I got to the attic I saw that the doorway leading onto the roof wasn't properly secured anymore and there was a gap at the bottom, big enough for Lexie to squeeze out (but hard to squeeze in again). It probably came loose in the last couple of days, due to hard winds.

My father has now taken the door out completely so Lexie can come in (if she is indeed gone on an adventure). My mother's blaming me for opening to the attic door (we always do that when it's warm) and not checking if the windows and doors were secure (we never do and two weeks ago they were secure). So I'm now hiding out in my room for the rest of the day.

NL isn't through, she sang really off key on Thursday. We watched the second half on Thursday and I've had enough Eurovision for this year. Also the Dutch soccer team is playing a test game tonight so that'll probably be on.

Lexie turned up a couple of hours after I posted the previous post. She had the air of a cat who either had a great adventure or had caught and eat a mouse whilst hiding from me. She was very angry when she wasn't allowed upstairs again.

I'm now getting ready to go to my friends' place to look after Luca until tomorrow.

Thank you. I've had a good time this weekend. Luca wasn't at all aggressive towards other dogs (suggesting it is something hormonal), more overenthousiastically interested. She still needs to learn a lot about walking on the leash though, although walking her is a good workout for my arm muscles

Last night I noticed that she was very interested in the water hose when I watered the plants in the garden. So I spend half an hour or so playing with her. She's got the same reaction to turning the water on and off as Nikita had with switching the laser light on and off, very cute.

I'm glad it was a nice weekend.

Our weather is nicer today, still windy, but at least not rainy and cold. I'm being lazy and doing laundry while making celery with peanut butter to snack on.
