I'm actually working on my thesis - here's to hoping that I have a productive day! I'm actually cutting it down - I really overwrote one chapter.

I'm freaking out :| I dropped the kindle, and the screen is intact, but it doesn't respond

Help, what should I do?

(It's well over the warranty. And some of you may remember that it's the replacement for my first kindle...)

Ouch!

If you can't get any kind of response from the Kindle (no chance to reset etc.), then try ringing the Amazon Kindle support and see what they suggest. You can't lose anything be giving it a go, even if it is out of warranty.

If they won't help, then what I would do is try opening it and fiddling with internal connections. But absolutely as a last resort, and only if you are not going to return to base for them to fix or replace it. I've brought a few gadgets back from the dead that way

I'm actually sick, too. I worked on my thesis all day, and now I am off to take a light reading break. My concentration is terrible.

I would call if the resets or even charging doesn't work. You never know, they may have a solution. Good Luck.

Thanks, Orlok, Dreams and L&G. Looks like my kindle malfunctions. And the only thing to do now is to order a replacement k3 at $65. Good price. But I happen to have a sister who owns a K3 but never reads on it. So...

Am on my break at work and wanted to update the fanfiction plugin but we got a proxy that made it impossible to update through the plugin within Calibre. So I will waste my break to install it manually.

Short version:
I am having fun.

Sometimes I wonder, do other e-ink devices break down this easily?

So I assume the Kindles are ridiculously fragile, because I never heard anyone complain about their Sonys, or Nooks, or any other eink devices.

When this Kindle breaks down, which I hope would not happen very soon, maybe it's time to switch to another brand :-\
