Thanks for stealing me over one hour!
This does not work. TFM obviously can't copy into this directory and loses the memory.

EDIT: found the solution - IMPORTANT! - TFM needs a file or folder entry SELECTED to be able to paste...

I'm getting a bit nervous waiting for 1.7 final release. What are they working on so busily? Is it realistic to expect the release in May 2012?

And by the way: kernel sources are really neat. But we are still waiting for the source code of system_manager and gui_shell

But OK, our tools are becoming quite complex. Not everyone is IT specialist and not beeing a good IT specialist does not necesarily mean not beeing a good teacher. The most 'stupid' question is the question not being asked (because of hesitation)....

As a software dedeloper I realized users of my software do not understand it and do not use many of features. I decided instead of improving programs by adding new features to improve it by removing not/least used features. And it works. Optimal simplicity rules.
Hrm - sorry to speak up, but you folks are missing my point entirely... the discussion on customized standby times (including the information Booxtor was kind enough to repeat) happened on the _same_ page of the thread the question was asked on - only a few entries above the question.

I'd assume I can expect people asking questions to at least bother reading the single page they're asking them on... that is not really a question of aptitude in using web resources - that is rather a question of lazyness vs. politeness.

Just my 2ct.

Out of curiosity: did you already succeed in compiling them? On my first attempt (of using the build.sh script), I ran into an error about a missing rule to make target 'arch/arm/kernel/entry-armv.o'... I hope/assume that it would work compiling by hand... but I didn't really invest time, yet (after submitting my thesis, I drove 1600km and currently spend my time below water rather than above it (not a very good place for e-reader hacking - I think my laptop would object... ;P )

Cheers!

I think that's a smart move at least for content and bookmarks

Do you know when this will happen? Is there an upcoming firmware image?

I would like to point out one catch, though:
- on the positive side, moving config databases from /root to /media/flash will improve user experience w.r.t. settings which are not lost over firmware updates.
- on the negative side, I assume that possibly broken config databases won't be overwritten by firmware updates anymore.

May I suggest to
- leave config files in /root (or some subdirectory in the traditional /etc ) a priori
- insert a statement performing a backup of the config files at an early stage of the update procedure (e.g., to /media/flash, or a 'safe' position in /root)
- open a dialog on the GUI upon 'first' start of the new firmware image, prompting the user whether he'd like to 'import' his old settings?

Cheers!

Good points, but your solutions sounds like it makes the regular update more complex than needed. (hard choices for unprepared users by default) I'd keep things in /media/flash and offer a "reset configuration" option in the settings (perhaps it would be simply done by the "Format Flash" option that seems to wipe the user-modifieble (ie non-firmware) space)

No, I have no idea and especially no time to approach this without a straightforward tutorial that can be directly applied to our case.

I have two PDF sourced from aps.org, which the M92 is not able to open. It throws some cryptic error message. The PDF seem to be scanned and OCRed (from journal articles released in the 80s and early 90s). Can I somehow provide the Onyx developers with them? I obviously don't want to put the online for everyone to download.

German Duden Dictionary (Stardict format)

Hi all, here is just a quick link to fellow Germany speaking onyx owners (there seem to be quite a few of them) as I had a bit of a problem finding a German explanatory dictionary. Here is the Duden in stardict format, it works nicely with the M92 dictionary app.
http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...2-1.28.src.rpm. The file when unpacked contains a stardict-duden.tar.bz2 which can be unpacked into the dicts folder of your M92. Not sure what WIndows users will need to unpack these files, it just works on Linux ;-).

Since i'm on Windows i had to search for a solution. First i installed and tried RPM - didn't work. 7-Zip can unpack RPMs. Works, but the result is not what you write, but a src.cpio file!

Somebody already reported this some weeks ago: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=175608

Booxtor discouraged us from installing this firmware: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...89#post2048189
