There are more urgent matters elsewhere... I deem it most likely that someone in the community will port a decent organizer application. P.S.: *g* ok... just read Booxtor's comments... If you ask me: This'll be the better solution ![]() Last edited by kodomo; 04-17-2012 at 07:07 PM. |

If I understand correctly, adding a SVOX or IVONA voice is more complicated than simply adding a file to a directory (I tried). When you write about a plugin, I assume it is a software module that must be linked to the kernel? What would it take for SVOX or IVONA to sell this plugin to an individual? If these companies don't sell to individuals, could we (or you) set up a distributor for voice plugins? |

Hi, everyone. This is my first post here.
I'm a Japanese ESL student. I've been using M92 for a week and found out it is by far the best ereader for foreign language learners. I'm impressed especially by its zooming and dictionary function. Replying to the Booxtor's question, I'd like to suggest a few points about the dictionary tool. I keep the dictionary function on while reading. The dictionary look-up window, which occupies the top or the bottom of the screen, could block comfortable reading experience after turning pages because it covers the text (top). So, 1) It would be useful if the dictionary window automatically moves to the bottom after going to the next page. 2) It would be nice to type a word with the virtual keyboard and look it up while reading. Thanks in advance. |

w.r.t. the first request: you could add it to the M92 wishlist (wiki part of mobileread ![]() w.r.t. the second: afaik Onyx is working on 'multitasking' (effectively rather 'switching between applications', as the OS does in fact multitask already ![]() Cheers. |

![]() Point is that you have no way of returning to an opened GUI window short of closing those opened after it... There's no window switching functionality. (At least not for those opened in fullscreen mode... didn't try with multiple small windows yet ![]() |

april fool's firmware?
Hi Booxtor.
Do you have any information about the firmware discussed in this thread? https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...8&postcount=22 Btw.: An official source with - say official signatures, or at least published MD5 checksums, would perhaps be a good idea. Embedded devices (smartphones etc.) _are_ under attack and included in botnets, nowadays. Otherwise: kernel sources? *nag* |

Booxtor if it's not official what is it? I downloaded and installed it already. Don't see any problems with it so far. Is it a custom firmware made by users? Or just a firmware made by onyx but unofficial?

I just noticed that the device can't open the following page:
http://www.stat-econ.uni-kiel.de/ It just starts downloading something at the bottom but then nothing happens. Can someone notice anything particular about the page that could causes the device to fail loading it? My version is 326. |

I haven't use dictionary in M92 until recently. I hit those "issues". I do not think they will be corrected in comming 1.7, but at least the developers should know and solve it in next one.
Bugs: 1) If I choose alphabetic view (circles with a b c), the formating tags are displayed instead of used. Could they be at least ommited - not displayed, or even better used for formating the text displayed? It is not issue of particular dictionary. I tried 4 different dictionaries. The same text is dispalyes correctly (formated using tags) when looking at particular word. So, the software is able to interpret the text correctly, but in Alphabetic View is not interpreted and everything is dispalyed. 2) It seems to me that if I use dictionary within the document, changing the dictionaries works unexpectedly. It seems to me that information about dictionary change is used only under certain conditions (cannot say which), but mostly the previous dictionary is used. Features: 1) Virtual keyboard. It would be nice if there are two icons for cursor movement in edited text. If I have text Like Illinoise, it is hardly possible to place a cursor, say, between double l. Icons for cursor movement would solve this situation.I understand, why it is like that. The chinese 'letters' are much wider and programmers do not experience this issue. EDIT: I found it is possible to move cursor using 4-way button. So, everything is OK. 2) Dictionary: It might be handy to have a memory of past searched items. And two icons to browse back and forth. I may read certain explanation and need to explain word in explanation. Now, I can click on the word and read the explanation, but there is no fast way to jump back to previous explanation. And this may be recursive. Jump to explanation from explanation of explanation... The only thing I can do now to return back is to write the previous word. It would be pain even on normal keyboard, on slow virtual it is double pain. I am becoming to like the dictionary feature. So, I am not complaining, just directing the focus of developers to make everything smoother. ![]() Last edited by Mono; 04-21-2012 at 01:28 PM. |

Dont know if this has been mentioned before, but an easy and useful feature to add to the next FW would be the possibility to configure your own stand-by and shut-down times. Auto-off is an important function in this device if you want to save battery, but currently the maximum is 10/15 minutes respectively, maybe reasonable for smaller readers and plain text, but too short when you are studying some long complex pages with graphics, mathematical formulas and such. Dont forget that this is a big screen e-reader suitable for complex scientific texts. It is annoying when you are reading and the device goes to sleep or even shut-down automatically. Being able to choose longer times (even hours) would be much more reasonable IMO.
