Even although the problem is now resolved, I will not buy from them again. Don't need the aggravation!
At least Kobo is now fixing the problem. To me, that's something.

FYI - This issue still persists on Kobo books. I had a coupon so I thought I'd give their bookstore a try again. Bad decision!

1. Stripped the DRM
2. Delete the page template file
3. Using notepad++ I loaded in all the XML files
4. Searched/replaced out all of the references to the javascript and the page template
5. In the OPF remove the reference to the page template
6. Fix the CSS references to reference the original CSS instead of the Kobo CSS and do this via search/replace
7. Delete the directories that contain the Javascript and the Kobo CSS
It would have been a LOT easier to install the DeDRM plugin in calibre, convert it to .txt, and then from .txt back to epub or whatever.

And then what I would have ended up would have been unreadable. That's not how I want my eBooks to be.

It sounds like a lot of work, but it's actually fairly easy to do. Notepad++ has tabs so I can load all the files I need to work on and fix them in just a few goes.

Hi Bookworm Girl,
thanks for the update, I am sorry that you had the problem again.
Those larger discount coupons they sent out to try to get customers back looked kind of tempting, but for me the fact that they "escalated" the incident to tier 2 just seemed to mean they sent it to the garbage bin. I never had any response from them and I just cannot justify spending any more of my money at the kobo site.
I hope you have better luck with this book and get the chance to enjoy it.
Lori
