Help please....( Not sure if this should be Calibre or Bookeen - but I'll ask Mod's help if misplaced ! )
I've plugged my wife's new Bookeen Opus into PC, hit Calibre - but no "send to device" button.... I had this on my T1 , but can't find/remember the solution. The Opus is not ADE'd, I just banged it onto the family Calibre, which I thought was OK. Only possible difference is both USB cables I've tried are through a hub, not direct into PC - hoped to avoid fiddling around. The feeds I have direct from PC, wouldn't you know it, all have the wrong size plug for the Bookeen.... ![]() Do I need to fiddle things around after all ? Having just re-peeked on the Bookeen section, should I authotise it to my existing ADE or create a new one ? Is that the problem, basically - no ADE ? Well, I've tried it with my Sansa feed direct from the PC rear, but still no signs of "Send to device" button....
I thought I didn't need to do anything to get it recognised - it's plainly something so ... simple - but that's me and techiness, sadly. I do try... Help ! Finally tried with supplied USB cable - zilch. Not even showing up as connected hardware on My Computer. Battery is 100% charged. Last edited by carpetmojo; 12-27-2011 at 05:34 AM. |

Does your device have some kind of indicator, if it is connected? Does Windows (not calibre) show any sign of recognizing your device?
Right now the possibilities are endless, broken cable, defect usb port, Windows, for what I know, it may be a virus scanner that thinks this device is dangerous... |

I was going to tell you to go to Preferences - Miscellaneous and run the Debug device detection and copy the results here, but if you don't even see it as a USB drive under My Computer then there is nothing calibre can do.
You have to solve the no drive letter assigned problem first. When the device is connected right click on My Computer (or Computer) and go to Manage then look under Disk Management and see if it is shown as a drive there. Good Luck. |

Thanks all - here we go..
Yes, the Opus is showing red light = power there. The port was OK with previous device. Went to My Comp only showing Floppy, DVD Ram Drive and removeable disk E .Went to Disk management etc.. and properties show this as ST380021A. But nothing happens when I switch Opus on or off.... Dont have my back-up disk connected. |

So it sounds like your PC is confused... Perhaps connecting your backup disk (which, I presume, would then show up the E: drive) and changing the drive letter to something else will help? |

mbovenka - you may be on to something !
Because having gotten fed up & unplugged, I then felt braver, plugged in again, opened Calibnre again - to see a blank Library...worrying, however, I then realised it was showing s"send to Device" (still nothing showing on My Computer). So I knocked out and reopened Calibre a couple of times - and Library re-appeared books and all ! I tried to send one title to "the Device" - the Opus remember - and it told me I already had it on device, install anyway ? Said yes, and there it was on the Opus. Plugged in T1, all well there. Have since sent 4 titles from my Calibre Library, and just now downloaded a new title from Gutengberg OK, and it's gone to the Opus OK. Which is now showing on My Computer. So I was definitely confused - and I think the PC was as well ! ![]() Last edited by carpetmojo; 12-27-2011 at 01:37 PM. |
