i have few of those light attachments and they all suck. I have to remember to take them with me or find them when i need to use it. I have to make sure battery is good. thats why i love lighted covers that amazon sells. Problem is they patented the attachment so nobody else can make same covers. If other companies would i'm sure we would see lot of them that are much cheaper than amazon. Can't blame amazon though, if u were the only game in town u would charge the most amount u can too

I love it
Having had the lighted cover for the K3, I did not hesitate to order the latest lighted cover when I pre-ordered my Touch. I LOVE it. It is sleek, elegant and fits the KT securely without any bulk. The light is an improvement over the previous case, although it too was/is perfectly adequate for reading. The new one reminds me very much of the Octovo Solis -- another first class product.
The new design is first class and I rather like the omission of the elastic strap. No complaints here whatsoever -- I am very pleased. ![]() |

so it costs the same as todays lighted cover for the touch, but the price on the kindle itself have gone down.. the cover costed 42% of a K3. and it costs the same today..
conclusion should be we are very happy that the price on kindle have dropped below 100$. |

Personally, I don't think the cost of the cover should be determined by the cost of the reader, because, the cover is still doing what it has always done. Now, if the materials being used in the covers for the new Kindles are of a lesser quality then the K3 covers, then by all means I think it should have a lower price. The only reason I will get the kindle is because of the lighted cover, not because it is better then the other readers (in fact with no quick way to flip pages or slider and no landscape I would say it is behind the nook).

Don't get the special offers Kindle Touch but the other one at $140 and all of a sudden the lighted cover is less than 45% of the price. Much better value than if you compare it to the special offers version!
![]() Seriously, the point that it is what value it has to you that matters! For me a lighted cover would be far better value than an Oberon cover (since that's seems to be considered a fair comparison for some reason). (I think the lighted covers for the Kindle Keyboard are much prettier than the new ones though. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Asawi; 12-04-2011 at 01:59 PM. |

It seems the majority of the owners of the lighted cover believe the quality of the materials used leave much to be desired. This doesn't seem to be the case for the K3 lighted cover. Remove the light on the Touch cover and it looks like it should be priced at $10. I think the Oberon is used as a price comparison because it undoubtedly is leather.

The bottom line is that for those who consider a case with built-in light AND use amazon's proprietary connectors to be an essential feature, there is pretty much no choice for you no matter how much it costs, there is only a single case available that has this!
For some of us who don't consider the built-in light to be that important(ex: I don't need it, never read in the dark), the choices become abundant, then $60 bucks would seem quite expensive for what it is. It's just one of the few reasons why product competitions is always good for the consumers ![]() |

My K3 cover now seems incredibly bulky compared to the KT one and I couldn't be happier with the design of the new one. Unlighted covers are $40, Oberons are $67 - two different price points in my opinion. |

![]() I notice you didn't address the quality of the K3 lighted cover in comparison to the Touch lighted cover. I mentioned that as well. I understand trying to justify purchasing something. But, I'll be the first to admit that my $500 Sony Tablet really shouldn't cost that much. In fact, none of these Android tablets should be priced in that range. I also have an M-edge cover (Go jacket) and light for my KT. When folded down, the light is longer than the case, causing it to look quite strange and cobbled together. This combo (which I will sell) cost $55. I'm not trying to justify the $60 cost of the cover. I think many of the complaints are by those who think it's overpriced. It may be for them - but it's good value for me. Oh and did I mention how much I love this cover ![]() |
