Well, Uranus is way out there. I'd say less than once.
EDIT: I just looked it up. That's wrong. Last edited by WT Sharpe; 11-20-2011 at 11:21 AM. |

Twice? It's got to be a small number, as I know the far out planets take a prodigious amount of time to circle the sun.

No clue there. Just that it isn't 5 or 4+, as that would round to 5, but could be 5+, so it would round to 6. It's not less than one as it would round to one. Can't be 1+, as it would round to the 2 (twice), but could be 2+ as that would round to 3. So, I have two choices: 6 or 3. I'll try 6 first. ![]() |

I know there's a ring of debris round Uranus.

Well, I have no clue, but so far we've guessed 1, 2, 5, 6. Assuming that the guessers are at least in the right range for a correct answer. I'll start with the next number.
3? |

Uranus was discovered by William Herschel in 1781, 230 years ago. It's orbital period is about 84 (and a bit) years, so it's gone around the sun about two and three-quarter times since it was discovered. That rounds to three. (Neptune was discovered in 1846, and has an orbital period of 165 years, and so has just completed one orbit since its discovery.) Over to you! Last edited by pdurrant; 11-21-2011 at 10:13 AM. |

Ah, the science of deduction.
Wow, I'd be a youngin' on either of those planets. Okay, FIFA question today. To celebrate Canada's surge to number 83 in the World and in honour of Canada's 1986 appearance with an 0-3-0 record and a -5 goal differential with no goals scored. ![]() Name me all the countries that have won the FIFA World Cup. Not every winner, just a list of countries that have won at some time. Last edited by HomeInMyShoes; 11-21-2011 at 03:49 PM. |

I've killed the thread with the single most popular sport on the face of the planet. I didn't think that was possible.

I think we have a winner. Goes to double check...
Brazil 5 Italy 4 Germany 3 Argentina 2 Uruguay 2 England 1 France 1 Spain 1 Well done Bilbo1967. Next question? As a bonus bit of knowledge for everyone. There have been 19 World Cup Tournaments and those eight countries account for 11 of the runner-up positions. The other 8 runner ups in the tournaments were: Netherlands 3 Czechoslovakia 2 (prior to splitup) Hungary (2) Sweden (1) |

At last, a topic I really knew something about
![]() Next question; Out of the last 10 countries to gain independence, could you please name as many as you can (let's say 7/10 to progress)? Last edited by Bilbo1967; 11-21-2011 at 04:48 PM. |

Not a chance I can name seven, however I'll contribute Eritrea and South Sudan. Not sure what South Ossetia's status is. I think most of the answers will come from Africa and the Caucasus. Will ten countries take us all the way back to the former Yugoslavia?
