Previous questions:

I begin with an E, I end with an E , I only contain one letter, but I am not the letter E. What am I?
If five contains four and six contains nine but eight and nine only contain one each, what does seven hold?
When was the inch last redefined?
yurt, quip, tyre, rope, purr, quote, pretty, quite; what do these words have in common?

I'm not seeing anything sticking out with respect to qwerty or dvorak keyboards. I don't see roman numerals in all the words. I don't see anything contained within these that is common. It might have something to do with redefining the inch, but I have no idea.

Well, you've found the right question in among those four. I must admit, I thought I'd set seven this month, but I see I was mistaken. I'll need to set easier ones if I want to hit one per day!

OK, it's nothing to do with keys on a keyboard.

OK, since everyone (except dreams!) is stuck, I'll give another clue, even though it's a day early.

The puzzle would still work with the words in a different order, but with them in the order they are, another word matching their attribute might sensibly be put either at the start or the end of the list and maintain the same sequence, but it's not possible to put a word in the middle of the list and maintain the sequence.

OK, I'll be a bit more blunt with my clues.

The current puzzle is similar to this puzzle in that the important element is hidden in the words.

That there are six words with a seventh requested as the answer is also significant.
