One thing was curious, though. I'd thought I'd seen review videos where the packaging had a picture of the Fire on it(?). Mine says "KindleFire" on it, but no picture, though. Maybe Amazon realized that the picture would help it become a theft magnet, and switched gears...Anyway, good luck on an early "blessed arrival." | |

Well, it finally says mine is out for delivery. It went to Chicago, sat there overnight, and then came back to the burbs to my normal stop before delivery (Westmont). I am working at home the next 2 days (good thing, too, cause I am sicker than a dog) and when I packed my rolling briefcase last night, I forgot I had put my K4 in a pocket. So I was standing on the train platform, waiting for the last express train to my town, and thinking I had a 20 minute train ride with nothing to read! I was actually thinking of reading some of the work in the briefcase. Then I realized I was reading a book I bought from Amazon, and I swear, in 2 minutes, I had grabbed my phone, clicked on Kindle and brought my book up. I never had the wireless on my K4, so it wasn't synced, but it wasn't difficult to find my place. I have to say, reading on my phone isn't a terrible situation. Of course it isn't as nice, but it sure was great, in a pinch, to be able to read my book. Of course, ONCE I GET MY FIRE, it will be terrific. I like just tapping on the margin to turn the page. Dare I say it is even more convenient that my wonderful K4? I need that FIRE! |

I know! I think Amazon must have stolen the design team from Apple. Those folks are known for their zenlike, simple is better designs with a flare of elegance. Unfortunately Apple then forgets to put much effort into the functionality and software, but Amazon seems to have done both really well on the Fire.
