Tablets too? not said is if mobile browsing is growing, this eventually will effect the PC's too. Those developers will not do rich difficult sites in both platforms. HTML5 will eventually be the one language.

Before it becomes the one language, a new one will emerge.

Flash works "ok", no great on my Samsung Galaxy SII and I know is not my cellphone, but Flash itself.
However, I'm not a Apple fan-boy. I do not care if Steve Jobs was a Flash fan or not, but the thing is that I know of couple of websites that still require or were designed on top of Adobe Flash. Now, do I notice the lack of Flash support on my iPad2? Not much. Most bank websites have apps already, so I don't need to use the regular website. CBS moved or will be moving to HTML5 as well, if I'm not mistaken. In a nutshell: whatever is better for the user, for us, very welcome! |

I like having Flash on my Xoom. There is still plenty of video that requires this, and I subscribe to a lot of RSS feeds that terminate in a page with Flash video, that on my iPod I just have to pretend was not really there. That's going to continue to be the case for some time to come.

That's the thing; most sites which are "interactive" in some way, and require Flash, now have mobile Apps, so Flash becomes irrelevent to the mobile user. Eg, the BBC News web site uses Flash for its video clips, and hence can't play video on my iPhone and iPad, but there's a BBC News App which can.

Last I checked, I'm not dead! I am a COBOL developer and there are hundreds of us at my company. I used to work for the State of New Jersey, and there were a lot more there. Very large systems that have a lot of data tend to be mainframe and COBOL because they have been around so long - it's too expensive to rewrite everything.

Also, if it wasn't for flash, my husband wouldn't have been able to see and hear the penguins farting happy birthday on the card I sent him! |
