No, I meant the website.

The article linked here is from "The Verge", which used to be known for a time as "This Is My Next".

Yep - though I think Facebook's in the running as well...

+1 again. To me 'The Verge' implies that they've either been kicked to the side of the road, or that they're never quite going to make/do/say/write anything - as opposed to 'This is my Next...' which suggests presentation of a completed work. Don't much like how the new site looks either<shrug>

I guess it really depends on your definition of evil. Personally I think that Google is one of the lesser of the many evils on the net. What I mean by that is at least they do their utmost to keep everything they have collected about you to themselves where as every one else is selling you out to the highest bidder and in most cases all the bidders. And if you say that Google is selling your data to the advertisers you would be incorrect mostly because they are the advertiser and they refuse to share the data that makes them one of the best advertisers on the net.

Me too-The Verge seems like a PR created name, TIMN seemed much more spontaneous and fun. But, same writers, so hopefully they do well.

"I'm willing to go thermonuclear war on this," he told Isaacson of the patent lawsuit Apple filed against cell phone manufacturer HTC.

In Isaacson's "Steve Jobs," a copy of which was obtained by The Huffington Post, the author recalls that Jobs, who was known for his fierce temper, "became angrier than I had ever seen him" during a conversation about Apple's patent lawsuit, which by extension also accused Android of patent infringement.

"Our lawsuit is saying, 'Google you f***ing ripped off the iPhone, wholesale ripped us off,'" Jobs said, according to Isaacson. "I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong. I'm going to destroy Android, because it's a stolen product."

Others probably would notice, how Apple is the first major company that has tried to eliminate competition by abusing patent system.

The Verge brings a caliber of musicians unique to Las Vegas. Three of the five members hail from the Manitoba, Canada area bringing a style and energy unlike the others. With the addition of Kelly Christian as lead vocalist, the band has now proved that they’re a powerhouse in the Las Vegas music industry. Playing the standards in classic rock, country, and contemporary music, the Verge shows a dedication to the craft that is sure to make your viewing and listening experience memorable. The Verge continues to please the audience and win over fans from all over the world, making them one of the most sought after cover bands in Las Vegas. When these talents come together it truly is a Verge in great music.

The real problem with focusing on companies like Apple or Microsoft is that it perpetuates the illusion that the problem is with a few 'bad apple' companies and not with corporate capitalism itself. All this wrangling over intellectual property serves a greater purpose which is the continued hegemony of an elite few (primarily, though not entirely, in the West) via the companies that they control. The west no longer has a monopoly on manufacturing and so must maintain its dominance in other ways. Ensuring that western-friendly intellectual property laws are enforced on a global scale is one aspect of that agenda.

Evidence for this? Microsoft has also been quite aggressive with its patents, especially in regards to both Linux and Android. This kind of aggressive, rent-seeking behaviour has been around since the patent system was implemented.
