I also pre-ordered kindle touch at its release day, but I'm considering canceling it. My reason for it is that I'm quite happy with the new K4 NT. With the keyboard shortcuts for entering texts, it's sufficient for me to do a quick one word search, which is all I'll ever do for entering texts. I can also make K4 water/sand/dirt proof when needed by simply putting it into a sandwich ziplock bag or something. The one hand operation for accessing all the ereader functions menu is also a plus. And not to mention that it is the lightest of all the ereaders out there.
All of the those lead me to think that a touchscreen on a ereader might not be the best option for me. |

I was considering a Kindle Touch as well but then I spent some time with the Nook Simple Touch and realized that, in order to use a touchscreen, you must avoid inadvertently touching the screen. The Nook Simple Touch has a nice wide bezel which gives you something to hold onto. The Kindle Touch and the Kobo Touch have a very narrow bezel, which I think would be a problem. If the Nook Simple Touch were selling below $100 it would be a viable option for me, but at this point I'm looking at the $79 K4. My only concern is whether, after getting used to the touch screen of my Nook 1E, I'd find the page turn buttons of the K4 to be off-putting. I'm going to go to Best Buy next week to spend some time with the K4 and see what I think of it.

I pre-ordered a Touch after I spent some time intentionally touching my K3 screen and realized that fingerprints really don't show up unless you hold so light glares right into your eyes (which makes it hard to read without fingerprints anyway).
I still considered the K4 Non-Touch, but I'd only be saving $20 (when comparing Special Offers models) and I'd lose the new X-Ray feature: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUi77I_CXOQ |

X-Ray looks to me like hyperlinks, which I never use. The K Touch has lots of neat features, but I doubt if I would use most of them.

My mistake. No new price hike. The 16Gb version of the ideapad a1 has always been up for $249.

The one thing I won't give away is my KSO. I'm keeping it and getting a Touch. I need two ereaders. The second one is a backup and for use by guests. |
