I am attempting to convert a children's illustrated book from In Design which was exported into epub format. The book is landscape with lots of pictures. When I download it does not read in landscape. How do I make it work?

I think you found a case where HTML based (EPUB,Mobi...) is not set up for text rotation. If the reading device won't reorient based upon screen position...
do not use Hard widths , allow the text to flow wider if the view box permits upon display position (landscape),you are out of luck

I have no clue but there is an ePub forum with users that may have experience with things like this.
