It appeared in some of the "you know what to do" areas a couple of days before the official release.

Strange of them to price the North American edition higher than those overseas, but I guess they think the market can bear it. The Simon & Schuster Kindle edition is $17, the UK-based Hatchette Digital/Little Brown Kindle edition is approx $10, and the same edition available to Aussies via KoboBooks is $9.99 ... the low price for the UK?/Aus edition actually has left me pleasantly surprised.

+1. I usually avoid buying Apple products for various, boring reasons (including being something of an Android fan), but judging from the little I've read of him, Steve Jobs sounds like an interesting man. Am strongly considering buying an EPUB copy to read.

EDIT: Gah, bought it.

There is no point really yet I do it often. I see a book I am interested in or I go looking for a recommended book to see that it is not yet available but you can pre order it. I will then do so as it saves me looking up the book again and trying to remember the release date and as my memory gets more erratic trying to remember that the book ever existed in the first place.

Then one day I pick up my kindle and see new items. I am always delighted at that point.

Why oh why this site is so anti-Apple? This book is NOT an 'Apple product' and is more expensive on your dear little 'Kindie' than any other edition.

I am listening to the audio version on my 2 years and 4 months old iPhone 3GS which goes through a minimum of five hours of audiobook listening plus normal use as a cell phone used in a busy workplace and I never had a problem with it. My first iPod lasted 8 years. That's what you pay for when you pay a premium price: reliability and high quality. You have to experience a product for years to be able to comment on the price of a premum product. I wonder how many of us go through these years before making thiese judgements. I brought up a family of four on my old iMac DV500 (bought 2nd hand in 2001). All my 4 of my kids learned how to read on it playing hours of Reader Rabbit, Blinky Bill and Jump Ahead games and the computer still works. Their Dad went through 5 Windows laptops in this time. Should have bought an 'expensive' and Macbook in the first place.

About the book (spoiler-alert). It is candid and Steve comes accross as a headstrong, ruthless, intelligent, irresponsible, self-assured though aimless young man. He is about to drop out in spite of his foster parents' immense sacrifices for putting him through the college. It is no hagiography yet and hope it does not become one. It is very upfront like apple products. Here it is, the complete package. Take it or leave it. It is different and it is what you want and it is expensive. You are paying for the experience which is different from any other experience. It has already acknowledged Steve Wazniak as the real wizard and Jobs as the drug-infested, pyschedelic designer and the shrewd market-man.

UK based Kindle edition is £12.99 which equates to $20.78.

.....
Not to get off topic, but this site is certainly not anti-apple and it is also a fact that apple products tend to garner premium pricing.....just as this book apparently does/is....that was the intent of the comparison on my part as the thread creator.

Apple is telling people who bought the Jobs book from iBook to delete the book and download it again as the original files had formatting problems.

http://www.macworld.co.uk/ipad-iphon...313555&olo=rss

Quote:
Macworld readers reported receiving an email signed 'iTunes Customer Experience' sent from the address iTunesStoreSupport@apple.com in the early hours of this morning containing instructions on how to get the new version.

"Thank you for purchasing Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson. A new version of the book is available to you at no charge," the email reads.

Recipients are invited to ensure they have the latest version of iBooks installed, then to locate the title and mark it for deletion. The next step is to tap Delete, then tap on Store and sign out of your account. Then sign back in, tap on Purchased and locate Steve Jobs, then tap the iCloud button to re-download.

well since were off topic anyway... It is fair to say and I've said elsewhere that I abhor Apple's Business Practices. They are intended to lock-in the consumers to their walled garden and exclude competition at any cost and if you don't believe that just read the damn book.

How does one get 2.3 Million karma with only 1300 posts anyway?
