When you're reading a book, just tap the screen and go in advanced settings (under that little wrench icon.) It's right there.

Thanks, Novou, for answering my question. I noticed after I posted that it's only after using Calibre that the Shorttlist is wiped out. I tried syncing with the KOBO Desktop app, then ejected; then I tried ADE drag-and-drop, then ejected; then I tried sideloading by drag and drop, then ejected. With each of those methods, the Shortlist remained intact. It seems as though Calibre is the erasing culprit. I guess I just won't use Calibre with my KT, until the problem is resolved. Thanks, again.

@Crystal3: How do you have Metadata management configured in Preferences: Sending books to devices?

I have mine set to Manual Management and seem to have no problems.

Thank you! Without some significant improvements to "Library Management" there's no way you could get true functionality out of a Kobo with more than a few dozen books on it. We need support for at least: collections, series by an author, book order within a series, genre, publish date, and metadata (should be able to have a view that displays the synopsis of the book and anything else that's stored within the epub's metadata) - and for regular sideloaded epubs!!! Could care less if these features are ever get incorporated for Kepubs, but then, that's not Kobo's track record, is it...

Here's hoping...

Do you own a Kobo, Joe? I don't see it listed in your devices, yet you show such interest and such advanced knowledge about what is necessary for it to be truly functional. I'm much less sophisticated than you are, and actually find it functional now. I don't care to do library management on my Touch, and only have a dozen or so books on it at any given time.

Tamingl; I have to agree with you. Maybe I am too neophytic (is that a word) in my use of the Kobo, but I find books to read by name (and sometimes Author).

I have a few hundred books on the Kobo and have used a calibre plugboard to rename books to "<first letter of each word of series>-<index #>-<title>" and for my simplistic needs this is more than sufficient.

I'm not saying that library management isn't important. I know that for some people it is.

I also know that when Sameer, or any other Kobo staffer, says something is coming--it is. They are very careful about not saying anything about future features and changes until they are definitely being worked on.

As for the kepub coming first, well, we can probably count on that happening fairly often, for the reasons Sameer mentioned. Sometimes the wait isn't more than a few weeks; for example, we are beta testing highlighting and annotations in sideloaded books already.

I'd settle for initially being able to create folders/filters and putting titles in order by hand.

On that note, I really have to start selling off extra readers

Got a refurbished KT back from Kobo after my first device went south (all kinds of wacky problems). Upgraded to 1.9.12. This unit seems really solid. No problems so far, including SD card, except for one:

Every time I power-cycle my KT (for example to insert the SD card), it tries to walk me through setup. It asks me what language I want to use, whether I want to sidestep setup because setup is important, etc. If I keep clicking cancel, everything is fine.

Has anyone else seen this? Will it go away after another upgrade?

My SD card has had problems with sideloaded content ever since the .10 update. The .12 update does not seem to have resolved the situation. I'm going to try using the reader without the card inserted, and then re-pave the device back to the .9 firmware again if that doesn't work. I'd rather have a working reader than an up-to-date reader.

So you didn't hear about the T1/Android stability issues?
You might get bitten by the early adopter blues twice

Well, I have about 20 books (only from Kobo, I've not sideloaded any because of the lack of organization, and I had to handle the library organization at Kobo site, because I have more books bought there), and it's beginning to be a pia to handle them. Seriously, I left this problem behind when bookeen introduced folder view in Gen3 (almost 2 years ago). As it is now, I can't recommend it to any reader .

I don't need all the features mentioned before, only any kind of organization (folders, collections, shelves, as you like), so I can rearrange it. And yes, please, for kepub and sideloaded epub.
