It's a modified version of Amasis that was sent to me. It's renders beautiful on the Kindle. No the bold used is Helvetica Neue and the Bold Italic is Chaparral Pro. I think they all been tweak for the Kindle because they don't look my versions. It looks lovely and I am very thankful that person thought of me.

Still the lack of physical buttons on the 3G version is a huge "miss" in my opinion ...

Best Buy has the Kindle in stock, bought mine there two days ago. Like you i wanted to get a feel for it before committing, the page turn buttons look so small compared to the K3 that I was concerned they'd be difficult for my sausage fingers to use. It's hard to get a real feel for the weight as they have them mounted to retractable security cables, but the buttons were fine so I picked one up. I think they only have the Special Offers version, but you can pay the extra $30 to Amazon after purchase to "upgrade" if you want to.

On another note, you can add me to the list of people who got a K4 with a screen at least as good as my K3

hmm... isn't Amasis one of the default fonts for Nook? I remember my Nook's(no longer have it) font looked slightly bolder than Kindle's. Caecilia looks fine to me and it's supposed to be one of the most easily readable fonts available, which is why amazon chose it. although I might give Amasis a try just out of curiosity.

Amasis is what Nook apps uses. Caecilia is great when you have good contrast. I loved their condensed version best but on the K4 I have it looked faded and I was doing a rapid eye blink every few seconds. So the modified version of Amasis I am using fixed that. I find it more readable and even put it on my K3 which has awesome contrast and oh boy it's wonderful!

Really? The Kindle Touch 3G version? I thought that one was available via Amazon pre-order only.

If I get the Kindle Touch, I want the 3G version/no ads. The wifi is nice, but I travel sometimes, even out of USA, so I don't want to rely on wifi or hotspots.

If BB have the Kindle Touch wifi only, maybe I can take a look later today, after work. I'm assuming the differences in weight and size between Kindle Touch 3G and Kindle Touch wifi are min.

Keep in mind 3G is only access to Amazon and Wikipedia. You need WiFi to access anything else. The Kindle Touch is not available yet.

With my current Kindle 3G I can check emails and basic browsing, as long as I have coverage.

Experimental web browsing on other websites is only available over Wi-Fi.

Now I don't remember if when I was checking my emails recently, was using wifi or 3G. I believe I had no wifi at that moment however, was able to check my emails via 3G. Maybe they are restricting that now via proxy on new one?

There's a whole thread on it here in the forum but basically it's only on the new KT 3G that has changed what you can access. I own a K3 3G as well.

I discovered today that I could tether my K4 to my phone and access internet through my phone's 3G, transforming my phone into a hotspot (secured, don't worry). Obviously, I would do my mail stuff with my phone, but I could download a book today directly on my K4 while in the city, away from my WiFi and any hotspot. I was quite happy...

It looks like Amazon will allow unlimited 3G use on the earlier versions of the Kindle but not on the K4.

I can do that too with my phone. I think there's an app I need. I just need to figure that out I know I have 5GB of bandwidth to tether. Unlimited bandwidth on anything else.

if it's an iphone, you'll need to jailbreak it and use MyWi or PdaNet, if it's an android, you can use quick settings, no need to root(http://tinyurl.com/6azt7e3).
