Would be better if you open a new thread for your question, won't be mixed with other posts and probably will get answer faster. Now, B&N books have DRM protection, same for Kindle. Putting the format types aside, the meaning of that is that you won't be able to read B&N books on Kindle or Kindle books on B&N (without any hacking, of course) On my Android Phone and iPad, I do have B&N app. So that's an alternative. But on new Kindle Fire, I don't know if Amazon will allow B&N to deploy or distribute Nook reader app. I am assuming they will not! Because they want people to buy books from Amazon, not B&N. Regarding your headset jack question, Yes, I believe it comes with one: Kindle Fire specs |

1) The Kindle Fire might be able to run 3rd party Android apps that allow you to read ePubs. i doubt the Nook app will be available though. So though it might be possible to read Nook ePubs it probably won't be easy as it will most likely require stripping the DRM and converting. 2) The Kindle Fire does support MP3 and audio books and it does have a headset jack. |

![]() Another option to consider is rooting. Both the Nook Color and the Kindle Fire are Android tablets, but locked into the ecosystems of B&N and Amazon respectively. Rooting either device will give you access to a broader range of apps through the Android Market. Those apps would include the major book apps - Kindle, Kobo, Nook, and Sony. With these apps on your tablet, you could download books from any of those sources without having to convert the files. I do it all the time on my rooted Nook Color. Besides an audio jack, the Fire also has speakers. It'll support the following audio formats: MP3, AAC (iTunes), AA (Audible audiobooks), OGG, and WAV. Amazon owns Audible, so they usually provide audio players on their devices to support audiobooks. Amazon also has its own MP3 and video stores, so the Fire is capable of playing music and videos. |

I have to say after two days of heavy use...I now love my K4!
![]() The font plugin and the modified amasis font I am now using has me on cloud 9! ![]() ![]() I do have an issue with the right page button being stiff but the left side I can turn with my thumb with no problems. I am hoping the right one will loosen after more use. I've already nearly dropped it twice tonight out of my hand trying turn the page on the right with my thumb. ![]() I just had to get over my first impressions and disappointment with the screen contrast. It's just I've come to depend on Amazon to roll out top notch stuff but the K4 is a budget reader but a good one. It doesn't feel flimsy and seems solid. It meets my reading needs just fine with a few modifications and for $79 I don't mind doing that to make myself happy with my purchase. I love that I can leave WiFi on at all times and the battery doesn't budge much at all. I love I no longer have to deal with the personal documents waiting messages that 3G gives. ![]() My only complaints on the K4 is the contrast which is now fixed for me. In fact I'm now going to have to put the same font on the K3 because Caecilia looks so scrawny to me now. ![]() I think you wont hear me moaning anymore. I still don't know on the Kindle Touch but for now I am happy with my K4 now I've changed the font. ![]() |

The plugin itself can be found in Calibre's "Get New Plugins" buttons in the plugin settings window. I have mine set to margins: 30 (default: 40) and I settled on a modified version of the Amasis font. ![]() |

Waiting for the new Kindles to arrive at BB or Target. I may be tempted to upgrade or replace my Kindle 3G depending of how it feels on my hands.
Still the lack of physical buttons on the 3G version is a huge "miss" in my opinion ... |

Is a lighted cover for the Kindle NT even planned ? I only see the regular cover on Amazon.
