I took it back out of the box.
![]() I'm playing around with the collections. The only way I can figure out so far to put them on is on the reader itself. Ok now I have 380 books on it that I have to manually sort. Delete the ones I don't need and put the others in collections created on the reader. It crashes! The reader itself crashes. Ok so don't select 20+ books to delete or move. I go for 10 or less it still crashes. I get a message on the reader saying something to the effect of The Application Content Manager has stopped working. lol no kidding! and then I have to force close it. I agree with what you said somewhere else Bookworm Girl, a new user may really like it but if you have a large collection of books and I know some folks have way more than 400, it's a bit of a nightmare. Unless you want to sync everything you own of course. I want to give it more time. Wait for my temper tantrum to pass & see what others are doing but I'm really leaning to not liking this thing. I don't really need 2 Sony's so if I have to choose, I'll stick with the 350. I *want* to like it but I'm just not feeling it right now. ![]() Does anybody know how to drag & drop books onto this thing? Is it possible to D&D a whole collection? Anybody know? |

Drag-and-drop only seems to work with the older software, or Windows Explorer / Finder / What Have You. It won't copy collections. This is something that Calibre does better than even Sony IMO (auto-generated collections).

Can Calibre auto generate collections on the T1?

Not yet... a new driver has to be written, but can be done. You can see the thread I kinda hijacked a bit on the subject in the Calibre devices forum. It'll take a bit of time, but I've got a rough driver in the works.

The lack of manual ordering is indeed disappointing. Plus, from this and other threads, it sounds like managing book collections on the T1 is problematic at best. If you change how a collection is sorted -- for example, from "by added order" to "by author" -- will it stay that way going forward? Or does it revert to "by added order" like it does on the PRS-x50s? Last edited by Jane12; 10-07-2011 at 12:20 AM. Reason: typo |

If the Calibre developers are eventually able to get the T1 integrated as well as they managed to do for all previous Sony models, then no first-time Sony buyer will need to be worried about Collection support or sequencing of books. Calibre does a brilliant job with my 505 and is even better with my 650.

I'm not sure what you mean by "going forward". When does it change with the other models? I've only ever sorted my collections by order with my older ereader models.

So I'm wondering what the default sort order is on the T1, and if you change it to something else, will it stay that way the next time you go back to the collection, or does it default to the same Sony-selected sort order every time? Thanks! Last edited by Jane12; 10-08-2011 at 12:58 AM. Reason: clarity |

Hi Jane! The default sort seems to be Added Order but I am pleased to say when you change it to something else, it will 'stick' to your selection. Yay!!
![]() You have the choice of: Added Order Date Title Author File Name Hope that helps. |

I'm glad I'm not the only one with problem with new software but thanks to your help I no longer need it! Calibre is handling my collections just fine. I love how it handles all the different readers...I have the prs650 and also take care of my sister's Prs600, my husband's Kobo touch and my son and daughter's original Kobos so it's really convenient using one program for all!

That sounds much like me
![]() Sony PRS-300 x 2, PRS-650, Kobo and a Kindle 3 now ![]() Calibre handles it all with consummate ease. Looking forward to the new T1 driver as my T1 is on its way. |
