Actually, it takes a LOT less than an inch if it's anything like the x50 ones. A very gentle, very small movement, almost like a tap. Having said that, I would very much like the option to use tap for page turns. It wouldn't be deal breaker though.

I like swipe, it takes very little movement to one side or the other to change pages and the big thing I use is if you swipe and hold your finger on the page, it will thumb through the book quickly so you can find a certain passage or beginning of a chapter. You can thumb forward or back depending on which direction the initial swipe was. I have not seen a tap type page turn that can do that.

Yep, not a deal breaker but would be nice to have.

Another side effect of supporting tap to turn pages is that it makes it easier use the device with one hand. It's harder to hold and swipe with same hand.

However though, I'm not sure about the colour... (here in Norway I have to order it from Sony online, so can't check it out in a store). My gut reaction was to go for the black, since almost all my devices and things are black. Seems like most people here have gone for the black model - anybody tried the white one?

Is it as glossy and shiny as the black seems to be?
And how does the contrast feel?

If the contrast feels ok I'll probably go for the white one, even though I usually prefer black.

The impression I have is that it doesn't matter what color you pick. All of them are shiny. It might be less obvious with the white one, though.

PS. Depending on where in Norway you live, it might be easier to take a roadtrip to Gothenburg and get one from Akademibokhandeln .

Since swiping and pressing are virtually identical, I'm not sure I follow your logic?

A tap leaves a distinct fingerprint, while a swipe at least smears the oils over a larger area. *shrug*

I like swipe page turning a lot more than tap version.
It is natural, just like I turn book pages.

A few weeks ago I bought a new mobile phone. HTC with 3.7" screen.
I was stranded in a hospital for 3 days and played a lot with it.
It helped me to appreciate Sony Reader PRS-650 touch screen.

And with the Sony PRS-T1 you have a choice of swipe OR button tapping. There; problem solved!

PS I pre-ordered the white and wondered why Sony didn't just go for matte option (or metal for that matter). Needs a stylus holder!

The red or white ones aren't due to be released until 10/16 or so, so no one knows for sure, but I'm assuming that the same type of plastic is used for all three.
