As one who is 'thinking' of getting a 7" color device, I really appreciated SCION's remarks about the NC. She was speaking from personal experience and that was a plus in my book. I felt she was very objective. I'm interested in her take on the Kindle Fire when she gets it since that is one of the ones I'm thinking of. So far for me it's the NC, NC2, Kindle Fire, or maybe even the new Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus (if the price is right).

Also, SCION is a woman and we are Allowed to change our minds at will.

Like I said, the new Kindle looks cool, just not for me. The Nook has more of what I'm looking for. Perfect example, a lot of people consider pdf support a huge thing and that's cool. To me, pdf support means nothing. See? Just personal choice.
Never meant to suggest otherwise. I was just curious at your choice of words and was wondering about the reasons why. Enjoy your Nook.

In Germany is also a other interest behind the Kindle Fire.
Here goes the Selling for Ebook Magazins Apple Apps.
There is right now no alternitive so the bookshops are eager waiting for the Amazon Answer.

But in Germany is also one other Problem Apple with some Law Suits was Apple able that any device that is in some ways close to an apple device is forbidden to sell in Germany.

That was one of my concerns when I upgraded to a K3. I had a 8GB SD Card and I've never used more then on it then 300MB and that's was with books, fonts and program files. On my K3 I think the most I have ever had was 400 books and it didn't even take up that amount of space. I now use Dropbox to hold my library and never put more then 20 books on it at a time. I notice when I had my entire library on there I was always starting a new book so this way I have to finish what I started reading before I add more.

My new K4 has half the space but I am not worried about it as it takes alot of books to fill up 1.5GB Now Amazon has added a 5GB personal document cloud as well so one doesn't really have to use Dropbox now if they don't want to.

I meant buttons are becoming obsolete on portable devices. My phone has like 4 little buttons everything else is touchscreen. If I make a call I have to use a touch screen to do it. Tablets usually have little to no buttons as all. They use virtual keyboards and I've seen very few people now with netbooks out and about and more with Ipads or Tablets that have very little buttons. Do people even use Laptops anymore? My doctors carries around a tiny netbook instead of a paper file and on campus it's netbooks you see or tablets now.

I don't wont a IPhone or IPad so I must be one of them too! I am an Andriod fan.

Laptop sales outnumber tablet sales by a factor of 14.

It mentions nothing about Netbooks or whether they are included in the sale percentage. I own a laptop and yes for gaming they are defiantly still needed but everywhere I look I see netbooks or tablets around here. Trying playing Sim Social on my netbook. My netbook would get hotter enough to fry a egg on.

Tablets wont dominate because they are too expensive still but slowly coming down in price. The average consumer can't afford one. I sure can't but I love to have one even though I am not sure what I think about the Kindle Fire in the form of a tablet it's seem to be more a media device.

It's irrelevant so far as buttons are concerned. Netbooks require the keyboard to operate, and therefore are equivalent to laptops here. They're both 'button' devices, as opposed to tablets, which are not button devices.

I can understand that you're basing your view on what you observe in your environment. But that's exactly what I'm doing too, and it surprises me that you think tablets are the predominant devices, probably similar to the surprise you might be feeling about my viewpoint. However, the figures speak for themselves. 14:1 is indisputable. Buttons are far from obsolete

That's good to know as I know that they were saying Desktop would be five years ago but I still prefer mine over any type of PC. I do not like the mini desktops I need something I can upgrade or replace parts on as it's ages.

The netbook is a separate issue to the question do people even use laptops anymore, It has nothing to do with the buttons statement. I see netbooks everywhere but I haven't seen a laptop in ages other hten my own. Hubby tried to use my netbook on campus but he hates the small screen.

As for tablets as they come down in price time will only tell if people buy them instead of a netbook. Of course I think tablets have a long way to go with software before they can compete with a normal PC. Office type apps are really limited on the Andriod OS but as MS release more PC type tablets that may change.

Of course people use laptops. I bet more than netbooks.
Professionals use laptops. Anybody who does more than just surfing the web, using office and watching videos uses laptops.

Netbooks don't have enough CPU or GPU processing capabilities for work or gaming. Except maybe those very expensive Alienware ones (but I seriously wouldn't call that a netbook anymore).

And of course people who want a screen larger than 12" use laptops.

The term notebook is used a lot for a small laptop.
