Garbage!

If I throw away garbage on 'this side' of the street I have to use clear transparent trash bags, but if I throw away garbage on 'the other side' of the street, I have to use special yellow transparent trash bags. The border between the prefectures (think: States) of Kyoto and Osaka runs down the middle of the street out front. Each prefecture has different regulations about trash disposal. Sometimes the dumpsters on this side of the street are too full and I have to use the ones on the other side... Sometimes I have to come back into the house and get a yellow trash bag to cover the clear one. Sometimes this really gets ridiculous!

(For the geographically confused; Kyoto and Osaka are the Prefectural names as well as the names of the principle CITY in each, such as New York, N.Y.)

Is something wrong with Mr M? He only pukes when he is not feeling well. Not that often.

Don't knock it, we don't even get a pickup. One of the disadvantages of living in the bush.

It is hairball time, could that be it? Both of mine have thrown up a few times recently although there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with them.

A bush! That's really roughing it! No walls or nothin? Must be rough when it rains, huh? Maybe we could take up a collection for you, get you a refrigerator packing crate or something... Perhaps some corrugated tin.

I'm curious though... How do you get your electricity for the computer? Plug into a current bush?

secret men's business is one of the handiest phrases in Australia. followed closely by secret women's business.

For those in other places - it is a translation of an aboriginal phrase that refers to - secret men's business, which no woman may know about.

I don't know if this qualifies as a V&R post - b/c I was laughing so hard!

Well, yesterday my partner was out on the deck doing some touch-up painting on the railing. I was here surfing MR. I heard a light tapping on the deck door. Since our new kitten Stella loves to "hunt" bugs on the deck through the glass, I'd gotten used to hearing her paws click on the glass, and ignored the sound.

Minutes later, the tapping sound grew louder. Almost like knocking. So I wander into the living room and see my partner leaning against the deck door pointing down. This usually means "the damn kitten is lying asleep in the door track, and I can't open the door without crushing her paws, please move her now!" So I look down - and there's no kitten in sight. I check behind the curtains, next to the air vent, etc. - no kitten. Looking up, I see a look on my partner's face that would do Medusa proud - and she is emphatically jabbing her finger at the door handle.

So I look at the handle, and see that someone has locked her out! Our deck door handle has a little lever - pushing up unlocks the door, pushing down locks it. Apparently Stella, the wonder kitten, was jumping up to catch a bug [she can jump vertically almost 6-8 feet now] and hit the latch on the way down - locking the door! I didn't know whether to be amused or frightened! My partner insists that "my kitten" [Stella is always my exclusive property when she does something spectacularly bad] deliberately locked her out. It didn't help when I reminded her it could have been worse. If I hadn't been home, she'd have to climb down off the deck & go to the neighbors for the emergency key and admit she'd been locked out of the house by a kitten!

At least all ended well. I'd suggest your partner not go outside when you're not home...just in case.

Getting very cranky because of my ear infection. Luckily it hardly hurts any more, only after putting in the drop the doctor prescribed, but I still can't hear properly. It has improved a tiny bit since Thursday but it's driving me crazy not hearing properly and not hearing from what direction a sound comes from. I haven't got an idea how long this normally lasts since it's been a while since I've last had an ear infection, I just hope it'll get better soon.

The telephone area went down the middle of the street I used to live in and the people across the road had to dial long distance to talk to me.
