Thanks Y'all. Until recently, no one could tell by looking at me that they weren't working. But they are not tracking together so well anymore, and it is making me very insecure to have that cockeyed eye. I guess it is getting time to start wearing dark glasses all the time when out in public to avoid freaking out other people.

Me too, almost!

A few years ago I had early onset macro degeneration in my left eye. I was very blessed in that it was a rare type that only affects one eye, and stabilized in about a year. But there were a number of months that I was looking (pun intended) at legal blindness.

So now I’m a one eyed man, and very grateful for that!

Ugh, wouldn't you know it.... We have a big shopping spree, and then the refridgerator stops working! I've had to run out and buy some ice to hopefully salvage what's in their until the repair man comes.

When I went to bed I thought I might have an ear infection, I just woke up and I'm 99% sure I have an ear infection. Bah.

I still have to wait two and a half hours before I can make an appointment with my doctor, hopefully he'll have time today.

My sympathies. We had our fridge die Christmas eve (at night) 10 years ago. We had to wait several days until we could get another one. It is still going strong (fingers crossed)

We thought it would be a good idea to short-term-let the children's rooms to foreign language students, now that the children are mostly away at University.

To do that, we need to get a Gas Safety Certificate. Unfortunately, the regulations have changed in the 16 years since our boiler was installed, and it no longer qualifies (Flue too close to a wall. If extended to avoid wall, would be too long.)

Unfortunately (2), my wife let the chap service the boiler. But because the boiler doesn't meet current safety standards, the chap could not (legally) leave the boiler running when he left. And now the boiler will not successfully relight.

Unfortunately (3), it seems that no qualified gas people will now touch the current boiler, as it doesn't meet safety standards.

So it looks like we're going to have to completely replace the boiler and re-arrange the room it's in (since the new boiler has to be on an outside wall). Costing £2500 and upwards.

Sigh... I suppose we'll get it back eventually in letting income (& increased fuel efficiency) but I'm not very happy about it!

Yikes! I remember ear aches as a kid. I think they were as bad as tooth aches. Maybe worse. Fingers crossed you are all better now!

I used to laugh at the idea of an earache, until I had one. And that one was so bad that the ear canal was closed so much the eardrop medicine couldn't go down the canal.

You definitely have my sympathies.

When people talk about the "good old days" they forget that medicine in the good old days (pre penicillin) was almost useless.
