I know you meant this to mean that he's obscure, but it just tells me you don't read as much contemporary literature. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...9&postcount=43 And to answer the other posters who also said they never heard of him either, the guy has been infamous in the literary scene for years more often for his gimmicks but his style of writing has unfortunately done even more damage to literature than McSweeny's (don't tell me you haven't heard of that either). I envy the people who never heard of Tao Lin, so don't go Googling him, actually. It's for the best. I just needed to state that if someone said something like, "I never heard of this 'Charlie Sheen' guy, or this show called 'South Park,' so they must not be popular," says that the person making such statements are not exactly in the loop in that particular area of discussion. Not saying South Park is bad, though - actually pretty funny Last edited by Joonbug1; 09-21-2011 at 11:22 AM. |

Oh poppycock. I have a degree in literature with a serious focus in the contemporary, and I read hundreds of books per year, many of them from new authors. If you want to sashay in here and name drop someone you don't like, that's what the internet is for, but if you want to THEN claim that the people who haven't heard of your personal love-to-hate-him author somehow don't read much contemporary literature because otherwise they TOTES would know who you're talking about it, then that's just unutterably silly. |

Carry on. Fantasy worlds can be fun to live in. The real world is a bit different though.

Let's split the difference: Bullshit on a poppy cock. Or two. Or a vag. But again: whatever. We can agree to disagree, if that's the case, Kenny. BTW: How many times did you die on South Park so far, anyway?

(I really do look like that. But less green. ) Including the person to whom I was responding, who seems to think he raised my blood pressure. I'm afraid it takes a lot more than that to do so.

There needs to be some kind of Internet Rule that acknowledges that calling strangers by pet names that imply a familiarity that isn't there (doll, brah, mate, friend, darling, dear, etc.) is creepy and weird.
