I checked with the Kobo AUS rep and he asked Borders AUS. They said that this CS rep was wrong. They will carry the Kobo Touch.

If Kobo don't get this distribution problem sorted out soon they will lose any hope of a market share in Australia. The new Sony is being released in October and between that and Kindle (not to mention the huge coverage from IPad as a bookreader) they will simply be left out there in nowhere-land. A great pity but that is the reality of marketing.

Rather odd email in light of the others. I wonder how the online properties do, and will continue to without a BnM front as well. I mean I'd be tempted to create a new name and direct from the A&R and Borders domains if I was Pearson.

I agree. The Border's name is poison - everyone has spent the last year thinking they are going out of business. I can't imagine why they want to keep the name when it would be so easy to redirect people to a new name without all that baggage.

Wow, an incredibly dickish response about how the KT isn't up to snuff, followed up by plans for selling it in October. Does Borders as a corporation suffer form split-personality disorder?

So? It's a far superior product to the Kobo reader. Who cares where you actually buy the ebooks from. And besides, with the new Sony Wifi they're going to be expanding their ebook store internationally beyond Canada & the US.

I'm sorry, but I was under the impression that this thread was about Borders AU's site selling the Kobo. I don't see how a comparison with a device not covered by this sub-forum is relevant. Not to mention that Kobo's store already carries ebooks in Dutch, French, German, Italian and Spanish. So I'm not entirely sure what your point is there, anyway. Perhaps I'm missing something. |

Also, I'm happy with both my Sony and my Kobo. I use them in different ways for different reasons. There are features that the Sony might have that the Kobo lacks, and vice versa. Last edited by viviena; 09-15-2011 at 10:12 AM. Reason: clarification | ||
