Just cleaned out a lot of old junk from the two back attics with my father and sister to see if my father could find if the window or the gutter was leaking. Unfortunately he couldn't see which it was so we have to wait until it rains again. I'm hoping it's the window since that's relatively easy to replace. If it's the gutter I know from experience that it can a very long time before it's going to be fixed (since I'm the one who's got the leaky bedroom and not my father).

We did find out that either my grandfather or my great grandfather had an obsession with cardboard tubes (the ones you can put papers in), or that tubes can mate and have offspring.

Now waiting for my turn to shower.

I've heard of farmers (even met one) who put them in the hen-house to protect their investment. As she told me, they'll occasionally eat an egg, but the rodent control service they provide more than makes up for it.

Went to K-Mart today - to their toy section - looking for toys to entertain (i.e., tire out Stella) and on a bottom shelf, found a perfect toy for her.

http://www.amazon.com/Zoom-O/dp/B001...5779473&sr=8-1

It looks like the end of a lacrosse bat - but shoots out spinning red propeller disks that you can either aim at the ceiling to hover, or shoot down a hallway. Stella loves them! She's even starting to learn to retrieve the disks so we can shoot them out again! She'll run after them until she drops!

I shall make a joyful noise. It is possible, however, that my neighbors might not find it so joyful...

I'm having a lot of fun playing my new guitar, running sounds through the Loop Station and overdubbing, making three and four part disharmonies (I have to call 'em as I sees 'em) and then playing along with them, experimenting with different effects.

I have a software program called "JamVox" that allows me to create hundreds of electronic guitar set-ups. There are about a dozen different amps, 16 different pedals, 14 different delays, loops, distortions, etc., and each of them customizable. There are backing tracks, drum kits that can be changed for different rhythms, even a song base. The program even allows me to change pickups to create different sounds. And of course, the hardware amp that comes with the program has its own set of controls as does my guitar.

I never realized one person could create such cacophony.

Getting caught up on everything I've missed since we began this move, paying final bills for the old apartment, changing addresses to the new one, trying to figure out what to do with all the boxes we still have to empty...

So this morning, dramas at work. I am told to be ready to travel in 2 weeks. OK. Then now a phone call. They want me there Friday! I haven't had time to soften bloke up for this. Most of the Friday flights are full. Damn!

So now currently planning how to tell bloke when he comes home (probably in the next hour)

That's probably what I would have done. I'm so glad we have no snakes here. At least, I think we have no snakes

As a pre-teen, I used to collect hangers from the trash rooms in apartment buildings in my neighborhood, and sell them back to the cleaners. They used to give me a penny for five hangers, and on a good weekend I could often find 150-200 of them. That was enough to buy two slices of pizza and a small coke!

Our back attic is great to spend a rainy afternoon in. In my great grandfather's and grandfather's time was used as storage for our store. I found several banker's lamps, the original ones with inkwells, and I found two glass shades in reasonable condition. I picked a base with a marble bottom in the penholder and restored it. My sister still has to restore hers. Yesterday she found an Art Nouveau glass lamp shade, today we're going to see if we have the parts in stock to make a working light out of it. When I'm in the mood for a project I go upstairs to see what I can dig up, consequently I have too much lamps in my room but it's great fun to restore things.

Yesterday I also found a huge pile of screws, all wrapped up by size in newspaper from January 1940.

Picked up the dog from the shelter this morning. I don't really know what she is. She's huge. Mostly lab, I think. When I take her in to the vet later this week, perhaps they'll have a better idea.

Norton's in heaven. He must think it's Wednesday. He's still going strong. No challenge is too insurmountable for him!

Did your shelter scan her for an ID chip? Forgot to ask earlier - not all shelters have the equipment to do a scan.
