Also sitting a little while in a church is good for a number of things. One slows down a bit, is somewhat pervaded by the silence, there is a soft light, is good for the mind, the mood.

Even you non Catholic, like he Prof and me, should try it once in a while. Generally the entrance is free. Men without hat, that's the only thing.

You can count me as one of the heathen, though not necessarily god/dess less. I cannot even tell y'all how odd it feels to type that...
I was raised Southern Baptist (those in the US will know what I mean, those who don't, it's a topic for the P&R forum).
However, life circumstances have caused me to do a complete turnaround in the last decade or so - and I find that most of my long-held previous beliefs went out the window along with that.

I just finished watching the latest British The Apprentice (seventh season). The candidade who I wanted to win has won
Although, I was even more happy when Melody was fired. I think Lord Sugar kept her as an irritant in order to test the ability of other candidates to perform under the stress.

If today were not an endless highway
If tonight were not a crooked trail
If tomorrow wasn't such a long time
Then lonesome would mean nothing to me at all

I can't see my reflection on the water
I can't speak the sounds that know no pain
I can't hear the echo of my footsteps
Can't remember the sound of my own name

There's beauty in the silver singing river
There's beauty in the sunrise in the sky
But none of these and nothing else can match
The beauty that I remember in my true love's eyes

What a nice way to wake up...

Good morning, everyone! The start of another wonderful week... Monday morning, and breakfast of rice, Kalamata olives, hummus, and pita. The tea (of course it's tea! Do you think I'd drink anything else in the morning?!? ) is McNultey's Tea & Coffee's "China Black;" I could drink this brew everyday and be satisfied.

Excited by the idea of picking up a new guitar toda, choosing a new strap to go with it, and all the 'toys' that a guitar gets surrounded by; extra strings, (I need very light gauge strings for this machine,) a new cable for the amplifier, a selection of picks so I can decide which thickness/stiffness I prefer for it... fun! fun! fun!

Very, very true. So many religions are just as much 'culture' as theology.

It really is a peaceful, easy feeling. No matter which religion. I get the same result sitting inside an old church, synagogue, Stonehenge, or next to a small mountain stream bubbling up through some moss and stones deep in the woods. There is just a 'presence' there that is calming to mind and body.

That sounds good! I'm a fan of Taylors! But I wonder what ever happened to Jackson's of Piccadilly? That used to be a fairly easy to find tea, but I haven't seen it on the shelves in many years.

Right now I'm going to have a second mug of McNultey's China Black (as differentiated from generic Chinese black tea.)

My parents are... atheists? I don't know. They don't believe in any superhuman strength seriously So they didn't tell me anything about religion, or what/who I should believe in. I've found out about religions through many subjects taught in high school and university: World Civilization (History)... and Marxism-Leninism

I guess there are over 50% of the people in my country who are not "officially" religious. From wikipedia about religion in Vietnam, I think this part is completely true:

Quote:
The majority of Vietnamese people classify themselves as non-religious, although they visit religious temples several times every year. Their everyday behaviours and attitudes are dictated by the synthesis of philosophies which can be traced from many religions, especially Mahayana Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism. Those religions have been co-existing in the country for centuries and mixed perfectly with the Vietnamese tradition of worshiping their ancestors and national heroes. That special mix explains why the people there find it hard to say exactly which religion they belong to.
I'm a typical case. I find it hard to say if I'm religious or not - I don't believe in any particular God, but I still believe in something, or in other words, some things from many ancient believes.

Ooh, back to topic, I had cold milk this Monday morning. Mentioned that... Good morning, everyone, have a glorious day and wonderful week!

littlegirl has been dispatched to school, by her proud parents in close formation, mother in her power look (she went to work after), father in his beach comber attire (I started to work to day, but from home ).

I have a new mania: green smoothies. I looked myself in the mirror, I admired my golden tan and the charm emanating from that pretty face that was smiling back at me. I also noticed a sort of thickening of the skin, all over my figure. Like a light padding. Healthy looking, by all means, and maybe useful in winter in a cold climate, without indoor heating. Not entirely displeasing, on the contrary, if more is better.
So now it is 2 weeks of strict diet. Green smoothies. Back to tea? That could be a good idea.

I wonder if, under the right circumstances, if they would fervently pray to a God? We use to say 'there are no atheists in foxholes.' What would happen if a close relative were to become very ill? Would they still feel the same way?

I don't think it's all that important to give a name to one's 'higher power,' (if I may borrow a phrase from AA,) to take comfort in knowing it exists. The very first sentence in the 'Tao Te Ching,' the 'bible' (for lack of a better term) of Taoist belief, says; "The Tao that can be named is not eternal Tao." That is, if you can name your higher power, it's not high enough. At least, that's what Taoist believe. Personally, I tend to agree!

Tea! Lots of black tea! No more gelato. No more Scotch. No more cakes. No more anything that tastes good... except for black tea, that is. And of course... green smoothies! Good luck!

My first green smoothie instead of the usual lunch.
I put everything in the robot plus few ice cubes.
It was supposed to be a mixed salad with tuna fish. I did not put oil, but a dash of vinegar. 2 different cicories, a small fennel, a garden tomato, a red sweet onion, a can of red beans with its juice. No salt. Oh yeah, this morning I quartered and avocado and froze it for future uses, so I added the scarpings of it. Smoothied comme il faut. Fantastic. 2 big glasses of it. The great thing is not to have to dry the salad. Not to set the table. Nothing.

A very good taste, fresh, stimulating.
I also bought a huge pineapple that I will freeze preventively. To night? For dinner? the girls have pork chops and creamed leeks, i might try something weird.

Interesting. It reminds me of Judaism with the deity that cannot be named.
