I have multiple lists....
In Delicious Library I keep a list of every book I own, and every book that I have read and every book I want to read that is available as an ebook from the public library (so I don't accidentally buy a book that I can borrow). In Calibre, I keep all of the ebooks that I own, and I use the rating system to show which have been read. On Amazon, I keep two wish lists; one for ebooks I want to read, and one for books that are not yet available as ebooks. |

For wish lists I use Amazon's wish list feature.
On my kindle I have a 'Reading Now', 'Finished Reading', 'To Be Read', and 'User Manuals-Reference' collections. In Calibre I have a special column to list the month and year I've read the book. Carol |

If I don't own the book (physical or e-copy), I add it to my Goodreads TBR list.

i don't lol, i just have a good chunk of my stuff sitting on my kindle. i try to get to recent purchases first but eventually those get pushed back too....
i would need another lifetime to read all the stuff i want to get to. not counting all the stuff i'd like to reread. |

I agree with others that my entire library on my ereader is TBR. Once I've read it I move it into a Read collection or archive it. I also track TBRs via Goodreads because I can add my paperbooks to the mix. I track books that I want to read but don't own with wishlists at my e-library, Amazon and the Sony bookstore. That way I don't forget about books that sounded interesting.

I have two lists: a TBR (to be read) list and a WTR (want to read). The TBR list includes what I'm currently reading and anything that I've purchased or downloaded for free onto my e-reader. The WTR list is anything I'm thinking I may want to read at some time. I keep culling the WTR list as my moods change. I've also got a wish list on Amazon that keeps track of titles I am really stalking.
I manage both my lists in a spreadsheet and keep KPIs on the TBR list so I can guage how bad my book buying and downloading addiction is. |

I keep a nice quick little visual in Calibre: If I haven't read a book yet, I leave the star ratings column unmarked. Once I've read the book, I adjust the star ratings column accordingly. Even the worst books get a single star rating from me, so if there are stars in the rating column, I know the book has been read...

Some books I'll go fetch right away, but for the most part I just keep a giant, numinous web of works associated by recommendations, influences, mood, genre, era and etcetera in my head for reference. There's plenty up there, and always more filtering in, and I could never keep an actual database sorted by so many variables at once
![]() I would need a virtual reality library with books arranged in space to translate the system out of my head. Maybe I could build it in Second Life? |

I WAS using the GoodReads TBR shelf. But since Amazon is my go to reference for information on books - I add books I am interested to the WishList.

I don't even bother. I have so much stuff on my reader that I can browse through, not to mention the library for both e and p books, there will always be something to take my fancy. I've even stopped bothering with keeping them after reading except in a very few cases, just delete them.

Hmmm... I have evolved a little more complex system over the years for my paper and Kindle ebooks. I have several wish lists on Amazon. One is just a generic public wish list for objects and for books without Kindle versions. Another is "Kindle Books" for immediately to be read Kindle books that have bottomed out in price. Another is a "Long Term" book wish list for books that I don't plan to read right away, but want to keep track of.
These two lists also get periodically sent to eReaderIQ for price tracking. Once the price drops as low as I think it will go, books from "Long Term" move to "Kindle Books" I know this sounds like a lot of stuff, but it's not hard to manage. On the kindle, I have genre categories like: pr0n, skiffy, Fantasy, Mystery, Vanilla, Thriller, etc. I also have status categories, like: Pending, Done, Reviewed, Gack!, etc. Generally, a book on my Kindle will be in two categories, a genre, and a status. Like, "Mystery" and "Reviewed". Periodically, I remove the books in downstream categories like "Reviewed" and "Gack!". It's sounds more complicated than it is. Basically, when I buy a thriller, for example, it winds up in "Pending" and "Thriller". It never leaves "Thriller". When I read it, it goes from "Pending" into "done". Once I've reviewed it, I change it from "done" to "Reviewed". After I'm sure I'm finished with it, it gets removed from the device. The nice thing about this, is that tracking books is roughly automatic if you do it as you buy/read/review a book. It also lets me buy books as cheaply as practical without a lot of extra work. (Thanks, eReaderIQ!) It's also flexible. I just bought a novel I really wanted to read now from my "Long Term" list, even though I could wait a few months and save a few bucks. YMMV Regards, Jack Tingle |

Books on my reader that I haven't read yet, my library/Overdrive wish list, my Amazon "save for later" shopping cart. Plus other books that just kinda float around in my head. I'm too scared to keep one formal list because I'm afraid of the length of it, and afraid to see that it grows faster than I can read.
