This is pretty fun, no? Now all the tech sites are on it but they only know and write about it after mobileread and they have no more details. Looks like this site was the first english language site to pick up on it.

I'm getting increasingly sold on it. Yes, it's plastic (ick!) but it looks good and appears reasonably solid in the case. Wifi would be definitely be handy. If it proves to have an Android OS then I'll start to salivate. Overall, based on the limited info, I think it's a good release for Sony IF they can get the price-point competitive. |

there is a minuscule possibility that sony, reading this site, will take into account all the whinging and make it: -android based with full apps and internationalization support -add a metal coat in the same shape as the x50 series -insert a switchable bw & color eink layer with backlight for reading on park benches at night (while waiting to meet someone, of course) -reduce the price to a "modestly competitive" 99 dollars. (despite the complaints that are sure to come about sony still being too pricey) -make the wifi removable for those who shun it and make the multi touch switchable to single touch -include a free stainless steel pot scrubber to matte-ify the surface even more or include matching color masking tape to cover shine -put on board speakers that play the theme from Back To The Future, everytime it turns on. And include 10% off all books purchased on that device. To keep prices in line with the way things used to be, in the good ol' x50 days and earlier. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GheAd59anbU |

They have never addressed any of the major complaints on a given reader that I know of. They have updated next gen, but the updates were always (a) due to ADE, meaning Adobe did it, or (b) glaring problems like the PRS-600's glare. -Pie

I dunno, but I've never needed that much space. I have an gig SD card and 2 gig memory stick in mine, and I'm not using either. I still have like 140mb of space on my reader and it only had 200mb to begin with. Most of my ebooks are just a couple hundred kb. As long as you don't have stuff with a bunch of pictures, or PDFs, you can fit a bunch into little space.

Yes and no. Adding a bunch of books to a collection is much quicker on Sony than on Kindle, but putting a single book into multiple collections is faster and easier on Kindle. Kindle lets you edit a book's info to add/remove it from one or more collections or to create a new collection - just check the collections you want to join and uncheck the ones you want to remove. With Sony, there's no way to tell to which collections a book belongs, let alone change them from the book level.

Another use for Wifi: On my vacation I could download my daily newspaper to my Onyx Boox 60 through the campsites Wifi. As I don't want to take my laptop with me while camping this is very useful. The last two weeks of my vacation I was on a campsite without Wifi and I dearly missed it.
