Un-Merge?
I'm hoping someone can help me.
I'm kind of a computer moron, and I've been using Calibre for a while (just basics). Ok. I've noticed that on Calibre, some of the books that have multiple formats - sometimes the book isn't what it's supposed to be. So say I have "ABC Book" listing formats of... epub, pdf, rtf. If I click on the rtf file, the book is actually "tom thumb". What I hope is that there's a way to *easily* (LOL) unmerge the epub, pdf, and rtf file, so I can open it, rename it if necessary & re-merge it correctly. Like I said, I'm kind of computer stupid, so I don't even know if this is possible... or if I'm just not seeing something... Any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated! Thanks! Laura B in TN |

![]() ![]() OK the next part is slightly involved but simple steps. For ease of finding, make a folder on the desktop: "TBM_Calibre" And since the Author or Title is wrong: blank the Save to Disk template (write it down if you want to use it again) Use the right click option on the Tile: select Save to Disk single format <the wrong book format>. chose the TBM_Calibre folder on the desktop . The involved part 2: If the Title of the saved book is already in yor Library, You could open that title in the Metadata editor and drag the new format into the format area Or, if the title does not exist, add the book to Calibre in the normal way. Once you are Happy, go back to the Original (wrong book) Location and select the format: tap del or the recycle icon. BTW if it is just ONE format in the title, Fix the Metadata (title Author...) ![]() |

I thought I remembered that there was a way to duplicate an existing record (and its underlying ebook files) but I could be wrong. If it is possible that would be the easiest way to proceed. If my memory is faulty (as it often is

Simply save to disk and then click the arrow next to add books and select add books recursively, from a single folder and select the previously saved folder.

An alternative to Kovid's method is to create an empty record (it's an option under Add Books), then select that empty record, followed by selecting the record you want to duplicate (hold the CTRL key down), followed by ALT-M (Merge - Keep Others). The contents of the original record will be merged into the empty record and the original record will be kept.

I'll play - hit O to open the Calibre folder, and drag the format you want back onto the library view to create a new book for just that format...
