On a Nook (or any dedicated eInk reader) you just load up your book and go read them for a week without thinking about charging, tweaking your battery options, wondering if you're going to whitescreen, etc. An ereader is a mass market delivery system that's supposed to be very easy to use.
The article has two rating tables: e-readers and tablets. But they completely misplaced the enTourages putting them together with e-readers only.
enTourages in a class of their own and, so, #1.
And yes, from a point of view of reading only, any 1st gen dedicated ereader is better.

can be only compared with dual screen devices as first gen nook and alex reader.
will not be a second gen, i bet due to patents in spring design pocket

Thanks for the link, your probably right about Entourage abandoning the edge because of this. It was only one month after they got the patents that Entourage threw in the towel and I'm sure the little lawsuit they brought against Barnes and Nobel got entourage scared that they would need to succumb to Spring Design. Hopefully with all of this throat cutting Spring design can at least get a decent device out on the market to make it worth while. If they could make something similar to the edge with more e-ink to lcd tricks I'd be all over it. Does Entourage have any patents out on the book style format (or on anything for that matter)?

entourage has no patents. typically cowboy approach.
spring design is not developing anything. they will live on licence fees if anybody will licence the tech, which I doubt. it may be the end of dual screen devices here.
this is why B and N moved away from dual screens.

So Spring Design has morphed into a patent troll - typical.

This seems to be a pretty common startup model. Patent some design ideas, get a boatload of venture capital, hire some guys who actually make your idea work but as a work-for-hire so you still own the rights to the IP, make a working model so you can protect the patent but don't sell many so the business tanks and shuts down, walk away with bonuses and the patent, hanging your investors and customers out to dry. Kinda brilliant if you don't mind being a horrible human being.
