Consumer Reports Rates eBook Readers
The July edition of Consumer Reports rated the following eBook readers:
6-7 inch screens - Kindle - Sony Daily Edition - Sony Touch Edition - B&N Nook - BeBook Neo 8-10 inch screens -Amazon Kindle DX - iRex DR 800SG They rated them in the order listed above. They did not consider the iPad because they consider it merely a computer with eBook capabilities, not a dedicated eBook reader. They were pleased with the Kindle, Sony's and the Nook but considered the BeBook and the iRex "undistinguished at best" |

The rating is useful. I like to see an objective analysis. The decision of which to buy still comes down to what appeals to the individual though, based on personal needs.

This is rather biased in favor of the Big Brand Names. The Bebook Neo seems to be getting good reviews from those who actually use it, where as the nook and the Daily Edition get mixed reviews. And the Pocketbook and Astak readers are not even listed.

I have never put much faith in Consumer Reports. IMO their reviews rely too much on testers impressions, opinions, and assumptions and much too little on facts. I question their whole methodology. And like lugmaninbmore I think there is a definite bias towards major, big-brand names.

Here is another post about this. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82903 They also rated readability of the kindles better than all the rest including nook, neo and irex. Huh?
