OOh look I found a picture from 2004. looks like they took the track out. I remember not being able to avoid the tracks at one point and bluddy slipping! the trouble must have come at the other end as the tracks went off to the side.

There certainly are 'parts and pieces' that cause us trouble, (like the KY paint,) but by and large rain isn't an issue when riding unless you don't have a rain suit and it's cold out. Then hypothermia sets in quickly and really messes up one's riding skills! There were times, back in the days before we could afford good rain suits, where we'd stop in a 7-Eleven, buy a box of zip-lock bags and three or four cups of coffee, pour the hot coffee into the bags and triple-bag them, then stuff them inside our jackets to try an keep warm enough to ride home!

One of their frequent opening lines was, "Are you making as much money as you want?" I was accosted in a supermarket once by a couple using that line. I replied that not only was a making as much money as I wanted, but I wish my paycheck were smaller. That seemed to shut them up. I don't think they expected that reply.

But back to your bizarre encounter. When that couple asked you and your mother to bow your heads, was your mother's purse open?

groupmate texts me and asks what we're actually going to do with the companies we're using for our statistics term paper. *roll eyes* well, if she actually comes to the meetings/participates in brainstorming, maybe she'd have an idea. she wanted me to explain, jeez.

Did you?
I was always tempted not to. Once, when I was at university in the UK, I worked in a group and the only guy didn't do anything. During the project my grandma died and I had to go back to Holland for the funeral. Whilst I was at home I made the website for the project. After we had done the presentation, the only thing he did was clicking to mouse, he emailed me if I would email him the website. He could have asked me in person since he was sitting in the same computer room! Needless to say, I never did.

Luckily that teacher when working in groups asked for us to write a review about our group mates. They guy was very surprised us 3 girls got top marks and he didn't and was actually mad at us for telling the teacher he didn't do anything.

Good luck with your team member and if she doesn't participate I would tell the teacher.

thanks! i did explain, but only very briefly, and besides, they already have their own parts to do. she's a finance student like me; she should know what we want to happen by just looking at the excel chart. i replied and added that she should feel free to add any input that she has; she hasn't responded lol.

They were probably more worried about you! I ride almost every day of the year here in Japan, missing only a day or two if it snows. And it rains here a lot. I NEVER ride without having my rain suit in my saddle bags.

The rubber used to make motorcycle tires is more 'sticky' than the material used for car tires. And the tread of a motorcycle tire isn't for traction as it is on a car. It's to channel the water out from under the tires to keep from hydroplaneing. As long as the bike tire tread is OK, there is little danger of skidding in the rain. In fact, in 40+ years of motorcycle touring, I can't remember EVER skidding on wet surfaces (except for the painted white lines in Japan! I think they mix their paint with KY Jelly! When they get wet, it's a wild ride!)

Just give the bikers room. They will be OK. Honest.

But mud on the tires will put you down. That's what did it for me; I came off a wet muddy dirt road onto asphalt and hit the throttle. Next thing I knew I was eating asphalt!

Road rash SUX!

I hear that! My pet peeve is sand and gravel. Or gasoline dripped from cars when they fill up at the pumps! We all learn the hard way not to accelerate out of gas stations!

They didn't ask us to bow our heads. Just to hold hands. And my mothers purse was on the opposite side, so they could not have easily gotten to it.

Honestly I think these people were just out of their minds.

Whattt?? You can knit and do any other thing at the same time?

Imagin knitting and reading GRRM

Knitting alone easily drives me nuts. I have to focus really hard to the sticks and the colors of the threads... down, up, up, oh no it's down, up, down, down, oh no it's up...

Have I ever mentioned the project I launched some months earlier this year? I was knittting a scarf for mom. One meter long, and I couldn't stand it any longer

sadly enough I was...
since experience doesn't work backwards, the very first memory from every moment of my past is "you 've been much more stupid than your now"
The effect itself is depressing enough since I know it will be the same in n years.
So ii rather avoid digging in my remembered idiocy to deep

Hey! You're lucky! The only thing that I've learned from my mistakes is that I don't usually learn from my mistakes!
