can iriver X20 read ebooks?

the "iriver plus 3" software which comes with the iriver X20 has an ebook button on its interface. But the X20 doesn't have an ebook folder.

Can it read ebooks, which formats?

Most of the time these kinds of devices can only read text files. Your manual should say. It is intended as a check box for people to check off when comparing units when they are looking to purchase.

I found a youtube review of iriver X20 where a comment said it can't read txt files.

How about a converter for mobipocket/PDF to jpg? It can read jpgs fine and zoom in well on them.

Here is a link for a zune. Jpegbook works on zune and PSP devices for sure and likely will do what you want.

I have also seen another thread that discusses this but I can't find it off hand.

edit: I found it.

thanks DaleDe, it seems like a good program for converting text to jpg. But I can't figure out the correct resolution to use for iriver X20. The available screen space is about 640x450. But if I create jpgs at that resolution they're not clear and I have to zoom in for a clean image. I've tried changing the font, always the same problem. Anyone got this to work who can tell me what settings I need?

Thanks

forget that, I had the wrong resolution. 320 x 240 at font size 12 works fine.

only problem is when I copy and paste text into the converter (Text to JPEG files for PSP - ver2.1.1), it comes out with lots of blank lines where it's been crunched into the narrower width. Is there a way of fixing it on the converter?
