light source for e-ink reading?

I had a halogen lamp but the e-ink device does reflect it too much especially directly under it. It casts a big orange glaring center on the device which is very hard to read.

Is there any light source more suitable for e-ink device?

Mine is a onyx boox m90.

Have you got an Ikea nearby/mail order on your continent ?

They do a number of excellent reading floor lamps, the one I got was £39-99, which is a bit of a bargain here.
Good weighty base, then 4ft straight up, then around 18" of "snake" with a really good light area from a tiddly little head - all adjustable of course.
And no "centre" to the light.

Very easy on the eyes - you can adjust to peep over your shoulder if you want !

Thank you for you reply.

I had searched Ikea web and it seems that this reading lamp utilizes halogen lamp as well, which, as currently I've owned, produces a large spot on my device. How does it ensure there's no white spot on devices?

e-ink isn't like paper that diffuses lights completely, its still somewhat reflective surface can make chosing of light source a pain.

My very favorite is to sit at the picnic table with a pot of coffee after I feed the birds in the morning, and use the sun.

The sun works really well.

Easy way is the simplest... just ensure that whatever lamp is used, shines at an angle across your reading device such that it doesn't reflect the lamp into your eyes... I use table mounted halogens set at an angle beside me, larger ones that you don't need to sit directly under and low-energy room lights with a shade that diffuses the light... simples

It's not about the "lamp" you are using; it's about the bulb, specially doing with halogen (or bipins). This bulbs tend to have a high concentration of light (you can actually measure:"lux" which is the unit used to measure light).
My recommendation would be to go for a regular bulb of 40 to 60 watts (if you plan reading at night), as they give a "soft" kind of light.
You might also wanna try (try it at your store, they usually have plugs to test the bulbs) either the classic color (kind of laboratory/hospital white) or the one which is a bit orange kinda of (i really don't know the name in english for it).

If you're reading alone, another way is to get a nice, bright lightsource but bounce it off the walls and ceiling. Indirect is much easier on the eyes.

My reading light has a 40 watt LCD daylight bulb in it. Soft, white light. Very nice for reading. Unlike CFLs, they turn on right away, and the bulb should last about 20 years.

I find positioning is more important for me than the type of bulb.

I travel a lot at times and have to make do with whatever is in place usually. I haven't found a light/lamp perfect enough to lug around with me. At home I have a wall mounted one above my bed and a goose neck adjustable by my chair. These are ok.

I really like the swing arm/tilting adjustable ones in some hotel rooms.

If you travel a lot, you should find one of those that go attached to the device (usually LED type ones).

We use 150-watt 3-way bulbs (almost always on the highest setting, as I need a lot of light). The light isn't as harsh as a halogen bulb.

I have a tried a few.

The last one is the best one.
XtraFlex SUPER L.E.D

Super LED is the key factor.
If you position it above eInk display you will get a big orange glaring but because it is Super LED it is very powerful and you can position it on the side of the reader and still get bright and even coverage of the whole screen.

Problem is, that thing is unreliable at best... And not visible the larger part of the year.

And I'm still looking for a red-light clip-on. I gave this one:

http://www.mightybright.com/Music-Li...al-Board-Light

to my husband (the only one with a red led!), but I'd like to like a single version...

(red light is a lot less disturbing in a very dark bedroom...)
