I thought he was addressing EowynCarter, who is in Paris, where I'm pretty sure it's decidedly illegal (I think there were protests about it there).

As an aside, while I believe you may be correct in this case, in general, no, not satisfactory. Stating something is illegal when you do not know is not cautious, just wrong.
Caution would be better served by just pointing out that there is concern over the legality in some places.

But by telling people it is illegal, you may possibly be giving them false information and scaring them from doing what they may have the right to do.

Yes, illegal indeed. But i'll be dammed if some DRM prevents me from enjoying MY books.

I came away singularly unimpressed with the Zahn trilogy when it was first released (I seem to remember Chewbacca's "dialogue" as a particularly egregious example of poor writing). Thanks for saving me the energy of bothering with anything else that's now in the e-catalog.

I'm curious - what were you expecting for dialog from a character that only howls?

I remember I liked Zahn's trilogy way back when it first came out, so I am working my way through them again. I am really disappointed with the typos. The first one had a few that could be ignored, but the second book is really bad. I'm only about 1/3 of the way through the second book, but every time the word 'kind' has been replaced with the word 'land'. And occasionally the word 'the' has been replaced with the word 'die'. And there have been several other GLARING typos. I paid $7.99 for something they couldn't even bother to proofread? I guess I will go back to the inexpensive indie books; I am a lot more forgiving of the occasional typo there.

Yikes, that's really bad. I haven't purchased any yet (hours cut and MOH at wedding in a month, gotta save cash), but that's disappointing.

I didn't pick up the Zahn books, but I've read the first seven X-wing novels so far (in ePub from B&N, if that matters). There's been a handful of typos per book, like what DuaneAA was describing for Heir to the Empire; I haven't seen any wholescale problems like DuaneAA is describing in Dark Force Rising yet, so hopefully that's a one-off.

(I did find it interesting that apparently Random House had different people working on different books in the X-wing series; there's two or three different variations on formatting the dramatis personae/chapter headers that are identical in the print versions...)

Well, in the movies, at least Han understood what the howls meant. It was clear that there was an underlying language. In Zahn's books, they are just plain howls, like an animal.
