I tried a new tea tonight.
Gyokuro (full name: Uji Karigane Gyokuro "Asa-Giri")

Two infusions.

A brewing instruction:
Quote:
Use 10 grams per 300ml or less of water. Be sure to pre-heat teapot and teacups and brew at 55-60C (131~140F) for 1.5~2 minutes
I didn't follow it though.
10gr??? Even my huge tea strainer would explode. The tea expands quite a lot.
I put 2 heaped tea spoons.
58°C
1.5min
300ml

It didn't impress me. The last sip was sweet, the one with a bit of tea dust from the bottom of the cup

Second infusion was 2min
The flavour was very similar to Sencha Uji.

I might try 4 heaped tsps one day if I am in a right mood. I think it will be only 5-6 grams.

Fate willing see you tomorrow.
Have many cups and glasses of nice drinks
Till then

Too much of nothin' can make a man feel ill at ease
One man's temper might rise, while the other man's temper might freeze.
In the days of long confessions, we can not mock a soul
When there's too much of nothin', no one has control.

Say hello to Valerie, say hello to Marion,
Send them all my salary, on the waters of oblivion.

Good morning, everyone. Happy Sunday! Quiet morning with a mug of Taylors of Harrogate's 'Yorkshire tea' and a bowl of rice... Good day to read a book!

Kimchi was hot, though not terribly hot, even I could eat it. It didn't smell bad at all. SNIP However, it was only cabbage, ginger and chilli. I guess it was not a proper one.
There are many, many different kimchees, made from cabbage or daikon, cucumber, onion, etc., etc. Should be lots of garlic, ginger, chilli, AND... some sort of sea thing such as a raw oyster or scallop... Let THAT sit and ferment in a jug for a few weeks and the smell gets a bit 'ripe!' The burn can be controlled by the amount of chilli that it's made with. I've had kimchees that have taken off the back of my head and others that were so mild a child could enjoy. Brand by brand, maker by maker....

Right now Korea is fighting with Japan over kimchee... The Japanese have been making it, but instead of natural fermentation they have been adding citric and ascorbic acid to 'sour' it up. The Korean business leaders are suing the Japanese, say that they can't call it 'Kimchee' because it's not real! Actually, you CAN taste the difference.

Quote:
She is very curious to try Japanese natto now...
My wife eats natto almost every morning with her breakfast. It's sold in little single-serving containers in the refrigerator case in the supermarkets. If your wife wants to try it, be sure she pours in about a teaspoon of soy sauce and a squirt of hot mustard, then stirs it all up like crazy! I like the flavor but I can't stand the texture and consistency!

Nice clothes, but clothes are just clothes without a person inside to make them come alive. But... where the photo of you wearing the soap?

Next cup of tea... then settle back to wait for Iridal's foamy debut...

Three pages of this thread is too much to try to do multiquote on, so I'll do it this way.

Iri: Love the clothes, and I love leggings. I'm not the perfect shape but my legs are nice (according to Chris anyway), and I love leggings with long tunics or tops like you describe. I think we do need a "wardrobe" thread - and I bet you wouldn't be the only one posting. I almost bought a new outfit today - brown embroidered shorts (long shorts, almost capris), with a matching embroidered peasant style top. I managed to resist though - not a good week budget-wise for new clothes buying here.

Everyone else: Still limited soda for me, drinking LOTS of tea and lemonade.

I have forgotten. Kimchee we tried had some sort of kelp in it.
I guess when we go to London in the end of summer we might visit some shops (if we find any) they have the real thing.

The difference between the naturally fermented and the ascorbic acid stuff is that the acid stuff tastes 'sharper.' Other than that, it's just as flavorful.

You can make kimchee from any veggies. No reason not to use seaweed. Kelp, kombu, nori,.... lots of different types of seaweed. My own favorites are cabbage or daikon, especially when I get them from a Korean shop. Osaka has a large Korean population so there is a 'Korea Town' area in Osaka with lots of different home-made kimchee for sale.

I don't have legs like those women in the first picture (they are not legs, but sticks ), but I still feel comfortable in leggings.
I agree, I have shocked a few people round here by wearing leggings at my 60+ age, but always with a top at least mid thigh. And i'm a lot thinner than a lot of younger girls I see getting around in them with their fat bums hanging out. I love them and the funky tops that go with them. Viva les leggings!

Nothing in my cup at the moment but had a cappuccino and a brownie for dessert at lunch.
