I bought the 350 because of the great price that it was selling for, and ended up loving the small size (perhaps because I have small hands - it feels a lot more comfortable for me to hold than my old 6 inch reader). My screen does seen to be significantly sharper than the screens of the 650's that I've played around with, too. |

I love my 950 for the bigger screen - I looked at the 350 and 650, but was replacing a 900 (my first eReader) so I was used to the bigger screen. I also appreciated the SD and MSDUO slots so I can load up with lots of books and pdfs. I read a lot of technical papers in PDF format so lots of storage and decent screen size is important for me. I will say the screen on the 350 was sharper than the 950, but coming from the 900 the upgrade to the 950 is pretty significant in sharpness, glare, and contrast so I'm a happy camper!

When I first started asking about the Sony 950, a lot of people tried to steer me to the 350. And I'm sure the 350 is very nice indeed if you like portability and light weight!
But I was fine with hauling my Nook everywhere I went and the Sony 950 is lighter than the Nook by a couple ounces. Both fit my bag just fine in their Oberon covers. So for me, the 950 was the clear winner. I like screen real estate, in fact, I'm swiftly getting spoiled by the 7" screen! I thought I'd like it, but in fact, I *LOVE* having the extra screen real estate! All the more since the Sony 950 medium font size is more or less equivalent to Nook's large font size. (I rather wish they had something in between their small and medium... ) But the reality is that for me, the larger screen just makes reading more pleasurable, whether I'm on small font or medium, because it feels more like a book, and because I get to involve myself in the text more before having to turn the page. 6" screens have always felt a little "short" to me, and as I read quickly, it felt like I was just turning the page constantly on Nook. However, still tempted by the sale price on the 350. I can see times where I might want to be really minimal in what I'd carry around with me and it could be a great fit for that. |

And to Japes, it was a rhetorical question. Of course I care for the size, I would not want an eReader the size of my laptop (17-inch monitor and weighs a handful of pounds), but since my purse has more than enough room for a 950 and everything else I want to carry with me, to me, it is just as portable as any of the other Sony readers. In the end it's all a matter of personal preference anyway. |

Last week I bought a 350 from best buy and used it for 4-5 days. I kept having this nagging feeling that I just wasn't happy with my purchase. In the end I returned it and ordered a refurbished 950 from the Sony store. I got in the in the mail a couple days ago and as soon as I opened it I knew I made the right decision! IMO the screen size of the 950 is perfect for what an ereader should be. Like someone else said, I felt like I was making page turns waay too often with the 350.

I own both and love both. I don't ever feel like I'm making too many page turns. I love the size of my 350 and love the size of my 950 (for different reasons obviously).

Hi, vxf. I just wanted to add that I think the 950 & 350 make a good combo too. My 950 is my favorite ereader because I love the 7" screen. However, I enjoy reading on the 350 more than I thought I would and was surprised to find that it doesn't seem too small after all. I couldn't resist the pink color.

I actually have not heard that plane announcement yet - anything singling out readers specifically. But on an Alitalia flight last year, the flight attendant did not let me use the reader for the ENTIRE flight, because 'it is not an approved device'. Incredible ![]() |

I read another post by someone that a flight attendant wouldn't let them read the entire flight too. I don't think they mentioned the airline. They speculated that the attendant didn't realize that ereaders have an airplane mode just like phones or no wireless at all like some of the Sony models. That would be really frustrating! I always bring a newspaper and magazine with me too. |
