PRS-650 Would you upgrade to a PRS-650 for $99?

I sent my PRS-505 in for what I thought was going to be an exchange with another 505, but Sony doesn't have a pile of refurb'd 505s handy. They are offering up a Black or Red PRS-650 for $99.

I already have a new Nook (Simple Touch) and only wanted the repaired 505 for my wife to use or possibly to sell off in good working order. Since getting a repaired 505 isn't an option, I'd like to know if folks think $99 for the 650 is a good deal, whether I decide to keep the 650 or sell it off.

With the price pressure coming from the $139 Nook or the $114 Kindle/Special-Offers I don't want to throw $99 at a 650 and then take a loss on it if I resell it in the next few weeks.

That is a VERY good price. They might be trying to clearance out old stock if, indeed, they are planning to come out with new models shortly.

I thought the Sony store was out?? Is this for a refurbished?? Used 650 go for just over $200 on ebay.

I haven't asked yet whether it's refurb or new stock, Tony. Does that make a difference to anyone?

When I returned the call to the Laredo service center, the person I talked with was just an order-taker, not someone who could answer questions. I asked for a tech to call me back so I could see if I have any other options, but the $99 deal for the 650 is there if I want it.

No it doesnt matter. I misunderstood your thread. You are getting a warranty replacement, correct?? I thought you were just doing an upgrade on your own and I was wondering were you were getting it for $99.

But yeah if they are offering you a 650 for $99 I would take it. They go for more than that used.

I sold my 505 in October of last year for $180 shipped. The 650 was already out at that time. So I'd say you could ask them for a better deal, like $49
