They have managed to short me one one, by never releasing it (and the Belgariad bundle for $9.99, I have to wait until 2035 to get!), but otherwise I've even received the book when they add it under a different ASIN and my ordered ASIN doesn't exist anymore.

This is not true. Low price guarantees do not apply to Kindle books.

However, you are protected under other language on the site (and actual law) - they can't charge you more than you agreed to when your purchased, which is the pre-order date, not the release date.

The publisher can cancel the books, though, and add them back (which some did with non-free books, but I've only once had happen with mistakenly free ones).

At least we have free books to read while waiting in line at the free health clinics....

All very good to know. Thanks you. We really are getting a huge "gift"; I hope it is all on the level. August 2nd is not that long to wait to find out.

I recall a similar pricing *glitch*? with the Lemony Snickett books - all but the first one in the series were priced at 0.00 over the weekend.

I too picked up the Lemony Snickett books when they were erroneously offered for $0.00. Amazon honored the price. Also, about a year ago, there was a HUGE pricing error on the Twilight box set. I picked up the entire series for $5.47 - I will never forget the price because I was thinking about picking up the series for my Kindle after watching the first movie.

When I originally went in, the box set was over $35.00 - then one day it was priced at $5.47. As a matter of fact, I think it was BooksontheKnob that highlighted this (that's why I check koland's site first thing in the morning and about 20 more times during the day), not sure. I immediately went to Amazon, ordered the set and they charged me exactly $5.47 for the set, not a penny more. I think within an hour or two, Amazon realized the mistake and changed the price to its current one of $36.99. There were a select few that were quick enough to get it for the $5.47 and so many people afterwards kept talking about the fact they lost out on that particular deal.

That's why, as Karen says, when you see some outrageous price, scoop it up, never know if it is error or not. So far, Amazon has honored their mistakes.

P.S. Jumped on the Apprentice series also.

Ah, thanks. I didn't realize there was a distinction.

And dang, I wish I'd been able to get in on the Lemony Snicket glitch. I have 'em all in print, but that's a LARGE series to carry around, and they're pretty quick reads. Much easier digitally.

Looks like most of these are no longer free.
I grabbed a few, but I wish I could have grabbed book 1, Revenge of the Witch. I would rather start at the beginning.

Only the prequel is free now. Looks like "The Last Apprentice: Curse of the Bane" was either pulled or delayed. It says "Not currently available".

Hmm still showing up on my pending orders, what usually happens when a pre-order gets pulled? Do the people who already ordered get an email notification?

It's likely pulled to fix the price. If you got in a $0.00 pre-order, you get it at that price when it does release.
