Astra: Welcome back. No idea what happened, but as you say, it's in the past. We're glad you decided to come back here.

The aspartame/diet soda debate will rage on (ad infinitum, I suspect), but Prof. Crash is right, it makes some of us grumpy, LOL. Which is why KK is "voicing" her protests over my continued partaking of diet dr pepper in Dog and Cat. Actually my partaking thereof has dropped considerably since I had that tummy virus a week ago - and as of this posting, I have no idea what it's going to be replaced with should that become necessary.
Iced tea seems to so far be the one thing that I'm enjoying the most - but I'm finally nearly out of the black tea samples I had, so I'm using family sized tea bags. My Philistinian taste buds don't seem to be able to tell the difference, though I found I really, really enjoyed the Adagio raspberry black tea iced (couldn't stand it hot). The disadvantage to iced tea over diet dr pepper is that while I end up drinking more of it (and therefore keeping myself better hydrated), I can't drink it room temperature, (I can with soda), so we're going through a TON of ice. And I don't have an ice maker. It also takes a little more forethought than opening a bottle of soda.

My Dad will make pots of regular tea extra strong and then store them in plastic water bottles in the fridge so that he can grab them when he wants one. I am not a huge fan of the plastic water bottles, I would prefer her reuse glass bottles or just make a pitcher and fill and go.

If you do this you can still have your open and drink beverage for a while.

I know people who make ice out of their tea as well. Fill the ice cube trays with tea. Then transfer the frozen tea into a container and store in the fridge. Your Ice Tea is less watered down and you can do it at the same time as you make large pots of tea to store in the fridge for an easy drink on the go.

Maybe do this on a night that you are not busy and set yourself up for a few days.

It was the first time in my (and obviously my better 2/3s life) that we tried ginger medicine.
She bought fresh ginger. Then cut off a well sized bit. Chooped it down into small bits, dropped into boiling water and left it to simmer for 15 minutes.
The first concoction was thermonuclear. We drunk it as it was (mostly I did). After that we started to add a tea spoon of honey (if we can call this thick yellow liquid - honey) and a slice of lemon, which improved the situation. However, dear ginger, till next cold

A cup of Wuyi Dark Rock roasted oolong. Fantastic oolong. 20 seconds and the cuppa is ready

I have exchanged a few nice emails with the owner of The Chinese Tea Company. I think she is a very nice and smart lady I will post a few bits and pieces of our exchange over here If we go to London, we definitely are going to visit her. I placed an order today for 7 teas..., although I had to restrict myself otherwise I could render our bank account empty. Many of the prices are too high. I set the mental threshold: £20/100gr. Unfortunately, they had only one Keemun and it was £30. It will have to wait either till I win a lotto or there is a sale. I hope for the sale because I think she is very kin on keeping her teas fresh, like Te Ji Tie Guan Yin Grade B.

astra,

my first impulse of having you back was

Now that I followed the link to the Chinese tea house I have to say: Pas de retro, Satanas!!! I am broke and now I have to buy tea. I have, have, have to have the flower ball box and the pressed white tea sounds intriguing, too. I didn't even knew something like it existed.

I had, absolutely had to share it
I think they are very serious (regarding tea) couple. Her husband is handing the website and learning on the go.

We have not decided on the summer holiday yet, but if we forgo all-inclusive, then we go for a few days to Edinburgh and for a few days to London. Then we definitely visit her tea tasting

She said she might start a blog. It will be the first blog I would read and participate if I have anything wise to say, daily.

Our boyfriend's back and you're gonna be in trouble
(Hey-la-day-la our boyfriend's back)
You see him comin' better cut out on the double
(Hey-la-day-la our boyfriend's back)
You been spreading lies that I was untrue
(Hey-la-day-la our boyfriend's back)
So look out now cause he's comin' after you

He's been gone for such a long time
(Hey-la-day-la our boyfriend's back)
Now he's back and things'll be fine

Welcome back, Astra!! You were sorely missed by us all!

And goodmorning to everyone! A great Wednesday and I'll start it, in honor of Astra, with a mug of Ti Kuan Yin oolong tea. Not my usual morning brew but by doubling the leaves I can make it work. It sure tastes good!

I can't use plastic with tea... It always seems to give it a bad taste. Bums me out too as there are several really nice plastic travel mugs that I've seen over the years made for coffee, but when ever I try them, the tea really picks up a bad flavor. Have you ever noticed this?

I do this often, but I had to go out and find metal ice cube trays. The plastic ones ruin the taste for me. I found a couple of old metal ones at thrift stores... the old type with the lever handle.

Ginger tea takes a LOT of getting used to! We usually keep a bottle on dive boats. It's fun stuff to grow too. Just put a large chunk under about 3" of very, very sandy soil and water every two weeks. Puts up some interesting flowers, and when you want to use it, you can dig it up, chop off a 'finger' and just stick it back into the soil!

And now... a second cup of Ti Kuan Yin! Welcome back, Astra!

This morning I decided to make a cup of tea to drink on the train instead of the usual coffee. And when I got to work, I didn't drink any coffee (yes, I'm trying to reduce my cafeine intake ... again ). But now fatigue has taken over, and the stupid report is going nowhere fast So I grabbed myself a Nespresso (volluto, my favourite )

I stand corrected.

Iridal I remember you complained about headache

If you cut out caffeine from your diet entirely, you may suffer from withdrawal headaches. They usually develop after 18 hours and may last for a couple of days. If you take this route, drink plenty of water to keep hydrated.
However, maybe we should take this article with a grain of salt because
Quote:
A source of antioxidants?

There has been much press about the health benefits of tea and coffee. Both drinks contain antioxidants called flavonoids.

Fruit, vegetables and non-caffeinated teas, such as green tea, are also a source of these antioxidants.

Yes, I know that green tea has less of it but you cannot say it is non-caffeinated

Funny enough, I think I have a withdrawal headache today. I didn't have any tea between 07.30 and 14.30. It started to subside only now, after I had two cups of Keemun
My cup if empty at the moment because I finished the second cup of Keemun. The moment I click on Submit Reply, I am off to make another cuppa. Dunno what tea yet...

P.S. Ah, I got SMS from my friend who is also our Postman, and he said I received the awaited tea parcel from The Chinese Tea Company
