This specific problem is unrelated to the Kobo it seems.

To be sure - with the Kobo not plugged in, try logging out of your account on the desktop, log back into it, and "Update Library" again.

You really need to call customer service because this should work.

Check your Firewall to make sure that communication with Kobo is not inadvertently blocked. On my Windows 7 machine, the path is Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Firewall\Allowed Programs

I have the same problem. I can't sync my books on the desktop app (v 1.9). I have no problem with the iPhone app. I uninstalled and re-installed it, but no improvement. I'm on a Mac.

http://www.kobobooks.com/desktop has a link for the desktop app on Mac. I'm guessing it is for 2.0. Have you tried it?

I had a very similiar issue with the Touch and was able to resolve it.

I bought about 3 books from the Kobo website prior to getting the Touch and bought 1 book subsequent to that. For some reason, only 2 of the 3 previously purchased books showed up on the Kobo desktop application. I found that if I went to my account on the Kobo website and then to "My Library", the two books that were syncing were in the "I'm reading" subsection whereas the two books that weren't syncing were not in that subsection. All 4 books did show up in the "Purchased" subsection though and I was able to add bookmarks to the first page of the two problem books from there and that kicked them into the "I'm Reading" section. The Kobo desktop was then able to pick them up.

Hope that was clear/helpful.

Coming from the Sony PRS-350, I'm finding the Kobo desktop software a little wonky.

The desktop available generally from kobobooks.com is currently the older revision of the software compatible with Kobo 1 and Kobo Wi-Fi and the Literati readers.

The desktop software available from kobosetup.com is compatible with Kobo Touch. It should also work with Kobo 1, Wi-Fi and Literati readers - although there may be a couple of bugs with it, so we haven't pushed it to the main site yet.

No, desktop vers 2.0 does not work with the original or WiFi versions. Any new books purchased will not sync/download to the WiFi or original reader when using vers 2.0.

Thanks Ninjalawyer - that works for purchased books, but I can't get the books that were gifted back.

They are not in the "Purchased" section of course because someone else bought them and sent them to me (actually to my son)as a gift. We have logged a ticket for this, hopefully kobo can get them back for us.
