Development Ermine experiences

Has anyone played with bluetooth and attempting to tether to their mobile phone? Ermine update includes a "Tethering Initialization" option now. I've had no luck in finding out what the initialization code is.

Update quick and painless. EE's unique capabilities not currently useful to me. (Windows/Galaxy S4g). But, as a hobby/test bed, time permitting, using this thread as a guide.... I may be able to 'contribute' something ...in payment for the help received when I 'really' needed it.

Hey all, I just logged in to see what is happening for a couple of minutes. I am in the hospital right now, so I can't take the time to answer this question I received from a gentleman that is new to the eDGe. Would someone please help this gentleman? Here is the question:

Hi Guy. I have a very important question to ask. I rec'd my Edge the other day, but could not complete registration....it locked me up because of some "DRM" code that Adobe could not present to me. I think that Entourage may have cut ties with Adobe and without the DRM code the registration process locks up at step five or six...if forget. I love what I see in the Edge and I'm impressed with the hardware. I have a RMA for the return of my Edge, but I really want to know if there is some kind of work around that I can use. You know the folks in here .... I don't. I would appreciate it if you could quiz some of them and ask about this on my behalf.....please. I really don't want to send this unit back, but if I can't even register it.....I'm afraid it's take out of my hands. Please help. ved.

Easily answered, possibly.

If the person's adobe id (email address) is the same as his enTourage account email address, then in the Registration Wizard you indicate that the Adobe ID is the same as the enTourage info. This includes if the person has never purchased an ebook, or set up an account at www.adobe.com for any adobe product.

If the person's adobe id is different from the enTourage email, or the adobe password is different from the enTourage password, then in the Registration Wizard he must indicate it's different and then specify the email and password. If he's forgotten the password, he should go to www.adobe.com and click "Sign In" in the top right corner, and then follow the "forgot password" process. Once the adobe password has been settled, he can retry the Registration Wizard.

enTourage and Adobe don't have a relationship regarding DRM. The DRM is 100% adobe's and adobe's alone. (It is in fact possible for Adobe to register the eDGe without involving enTourage.)

EE. Faster and lots of welcome updates but and a big but... the Browser crashes out a lot especially on secure pages. Hope this gets sorted soon.

What a difference a day makes!!! After clearing cache data on settings and all browsers , just about everywhere and everything but passwords. It improved marginally. Had even done a few shutdowns and restarts. Then ...............


Shutdown and went to sleep , before midnight. NEXT DAY, today, I booted and now browser hardly crashes. Maybe three times in an hour and then mainly when using links. Will normally work by re opening going to history and repeating last action.


Happened from EE Alps page to community to forum etc. So can be tested Using EE weebsite, happens more inLandscape than portrait. Probably a resize thing or trying to calculate a link from one orientation to another, when it shouldn't.


Great release a lot faster and youtube links play in other sites ... still have lots of problems with youtube site itself with its pop ups all over the place.


Thanks Entourage a good release and fairlyy stable for a beta.

I upgraded last week and could not be more pleased. I use the tablet more than the reader. No problems at all. The Entourage developers have done a remarkable Job, so many more apps are available. Both the tablet and reader's performance is much iimproved. This is the most useful device on the market for the price, l believe.

Given all the positive posts I updated yesterday. The main reason I did that was because I wanted to get the Families 1.1. app.

The Edge is a very useful device for a genealogist. I use the Legacy family tree software on a PC and with the app Families 1.1. I can maintain the same Legacy families on the Edge.
Under Dingo the app did not install. The developer made a customised version for me that worked (and for free).Under Ermine the official app installed with no issues (which is good news also for the developer because he gets his well deserved pay).

The eReader and Journal features are for me the most important features. I only need some basic apps.
PDF is not my favourite format for ereading. In prefer epub and the landscape function works ok for epub. The books I bought all display in two columns; the free books like Anna Karenina are just displayed wide. I would love to know what setting in which epub file component causes the two column display.

What I still like to have is a link to the Ermine update.zip file. Just like a copy as back up..

I sincerely hope that the software development continues and we get a final release of Ermine. The Kno (another double tablet I like, but I prefer one e-ink screen) seems to have abandoned/outsourced the whole hardware stuff. If Entourage could strike a similar deal then the future could still look bright.

ps.
Do not open a book from the tablet while on the e-ink a menu item is opened. The open menu item seems to get hidden behind the text of the new opened book thus 'freezing' the e-ink. Keeping the double arrow button a few seconds down resets the e-ink. So it not a big issue. Could already have been a Dingo 'bug'.

I agree with the last two comments, keep it up EE.

Coming out of hibernation Wi-Fi just wouldn't switch on, had to turn off and on. Maybe Wi-Fi needs a recycle after coming out of hibernation.

I found that when this happens if you go to network control and play around with the wifi enable and airplane mode buttons it is possible to get it to work again without restarting

I got the same problem with the camera as well
All the pictures got really green, just like someone applied a filter after me taking the picture!!
It didnt happen before my update, and the image showing on the LCD screen before the shot was fine, it got green straight after I pressed the button..
Anyone else has this problem too??
